Interesting. Looks as though a toy company has decided to introduce modernity into the Muslim world? Or is it just an effort to get some bucks out of Muslim hands for a charity? Nah, Mattel backs the exhibition.
I hope they have the clothes glued on. Wouldn't want some lunatic killing their child for playing with a naked doll.
Is there a matching male doll complete with dynamite strapped on? And are they allowed in the same house before they're officially married? So many questions, so little time. I do hope her head comes off easily for convenience sake. Especially so if the doll can wear other Barbie clothes.
One of the world's most famous children's toys, Barbie, has been given a makeover - wearing a burkha. Wearing the traditional Islamic dress, the iconic doll is going undercover for a charity auction in connection with Sotheby's for Save The Children. More than 500 Barbies went on show yesterday at the Salone dei Cinquecento, in Florence, Italy.
'I know Barbie was something seen as bad before as an image for girls, but in actual fact the message with Barbie for women is you can be whatever you want to be. 'I have a Barbie in a wheelchair that was only out for six weeks.'
The mum-of-two's own Barbie collection is set to be displayed at London's Victoria and Albert Museum in 2012.

now, now. Barbie can be a suicide bomber too. Or just a mass murdering shooter like Nidal Hasan. I see a whole line of muslim Barby outfits from this. And don't forget Honor killed Barbie for being such a western sl*t--comes with a car and a muslim family....

We have forgotton the Afghan women. While we deal with the warlords, we are selling the women back into the stoneage. A story that tell the sorry tale. For this to be a fund raiser for children, is unbeliveable.
