Some analysis provided by Chris Thorman, who blogs about construction estimating software at Software Advice offers some critical insight on different levels. Along with showing how little the Stimulus package helped the Construction Industry it was meant to help: relatively few jobs created or saved at a cost of about $222,491 per job. Anyone know any construction workers making close to that? That's what the government added to our debt for each of them.
But more than that, you can see how it played out across the states. While the national average was as per above, each one cost about $535,271 in California - $511,053 in Connecticut, etc.
While regional cost structures may make some difference, it's clear that the more liberal the state, the more money was squandered. Read the whole thing here.
