The public option proposals I'm aware of to date are not optional at all. They come with a time limit. And after that date is reached, there's goes the optional part. If they pass this disaster, the Left will continue to demagogue health care as an issue just as they have. And if anything, they will move any alleged expiration date up. They are counting on using a slippery slope to slip this disaster past the electorate.
As I recently said, it's time to start rejecting Obama's agenda in total. We have seen nothing from this WH or this Congress to suggest we should trust them on anything. They are more opaque, more closed door and more partisan than anything that came before. They have undermined trust, not us.
Their interest is just one thing, getting precisely what they want, even if they can't get it on the first attempt. At times like these, there is nothing wrong with being the Party of No. The GOP better stop cowering in the cloakrooms on Capitol Hill and stand up and fight. The consequences are far too great and the negative impact of these bad ideas can never be reversed.
Michelle Malkin has the round up on Harry Reid's so called public option, scheduled to be announced at a press conference later today. Of course he won't provide any details. They're for crafting behind closed doors only to be passed before anyone can even read what they actually are.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid this afternoon will announce his decision to include a government-run health care plan, or “public option,” in the health care bill he brings to the floor, CBS News has learned.
Reid is scheduled to discuss his plans for the bill at a 3:15 p.m. ET press conference on Capitol Hill. He is expected to say he will go forward with a public option that will allow states to opt out of the program. However, he is also expected to say it is unclear whether or not he has 60 votes to move forward with the plan

An outstanding post- that just about says it all.
And while the GOP is not fighting like the ought to, developments
like the TEA party movement and NY-23 Conservative Party insurgency are slowly dragging them into
it- hopefully they'll resist compromise now and run Reaganite candidates next year.
A Hoffman win would sure help shake things up for the better...
