Geesh, she quit in tears. She did the right thing. I had said I admired her for standing up in front of the Hoffman campaign location and giving her short speech. Nothing she's done has caused me to change that positive view. I've no ill will toward her. She had a long, productive career as an elected official. I won't knock her for that, even if I found some of her thinking to be wrong. Hopefully she can carry on in her career at the local level for now. I don't see why not. These must have been incredibly stressful times for her.
Good luck to you, Dede.

Myself I don't admire lefty RINO's. Her speaking in front of Hoffman's office was a dumb moved that backfired. Dede take your Margret Sanger Award and go home.

I'm sorry, DV.Just got in and flipped open Memeorandum and saw it there. If you commented somewhere, didn't have a chance to see anything yet.

I don't have sympathy for a lefty claiming to be a proud republican while she supported all the WRONG causes. PLANNED PARENTHOOD FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! ABORTION!! She oughta be supporting better made BRAS. sheesh. I'll say so long and good riddance. I hope she stays stuck in local politics. And another sign of her proud republicanism (don't make me laugh), note she didn't endorse the real conservative.

Hopefully this whole episode will send a clear signal. To be a Republican you had better be a conservative. That, after all is what the Party is about -- conservative values. Not playing footsy with the liberals. And, if the win is conservative on Nov. 3 the signal will be clear to the liberal establishment in Washington as well. But let's not count those chickens till they come home to roost.

Wow. I feel can of guilty for the way conservatives seem to piled-in on the poor lady. Not that I agree with her political positions but it must certainly have been difficult over the last few weeks. Anyway I hope Hoffman reaches out to her regardless. After all she certainly knows and understands the district better than him. Good luck to her in the future and besides she could always mount another challenge at the primary level next year.

my kingdom(or a facsimile built of sand) for a two way poll.
kinda funny, because many polls in three way races, try and provide a head to head, to 'season the meat'.
I can't see where hoffman doesn't surge, collecting the lion's share of the dede voters. Fundraisng time is over, so I have a feeling that even the daily kos poll is going to rain on the biden appearance.
my only question in regards to biden:
who should be more insulted-biden for getting sent as a token gesture, or the democratic party of ny-23 for getting biden?

Absent real outreach to the constituencies conservatives have spent DECADES demonizing and alienating, conservatives will not be returning to the majority any time soon. The alternative is to continue to shrink into a regional, polarized organization in touch with no one.
Put more simply, they don't have the votes. And tomorrow, they will have even less.

I saw that the Hoffman campaign wants her endorsement. That might be a signal to some of his supporters on the blogs etc to stop calling the woman all sorts of names and crap like that. Malkin called her a radical leftist. For heavens sake, Dede S might well have been too far to the left to be a conservative Republican, but she is not a radical leftist. If you want her endorsement, treat her with some respect folks. She does not have to do anything for Hoffman. I saw over at Hot Air that Hoffman's negative rating with the Scozzafava supporters is -42. If those folks get more pissed than they already are and go the other way, Owens might still win this thing.

As the Freepers say, THIS IS HUGH AND SERIES.

Even if Hoffman loses....I'd be disappointed but it wouldn't be unexpected since it IS New York. But, the important thing is conservatives are flexing their muscle and they're finding out that they can cause some serious kind of change of their own.

Dan, I'm kidding. No worries. :-)

I agree Dan, and that is why I sent her an email earlier saying thank you for being honorable and also a God Bless her and her family.
It was a classy move on her part I think as she could have put the screws to Mr. Hoffman very easily even though she was out of money.

Dede was a flawed congressional candidate, but she is hardly the villain in this fiasco.
The problem is with the GOP Kingmakers at the district, state, and national level. Their concerns are solely power and patronage, not principle. Let's hope they start to get the message.

This may not get posted but I am hoping all those good conservatives praying and rooting for Doug Hoffman also get up off their wallets right now and help him financially. I know every one of us can afford a little something. Do without that movie out with the family or that new pair of shoes and send the money to doug. Put your money in the right place before the democrats take it all. Politics takes $$$$ people. Well meaning people tend to be like the guy who passes the collection plate onto the next person and does not bother to drop in a few dollars. At this point Mr. Hoffman needs more than prayers cheerleaders. Those outside his district who cant give a vote can give a $20.00 or $30.00 donation on a credit card. Multiply that a hundred thousand times and he might be the winner.

Where's all that admiration now for that scozzafava scuz? See exactly how honorable and interested in the welfare of those she would have represented. She's a dam leftist. And SHAME on newt and any other republican that supported this two faced lying sack of cellulite.
