Not that it likely matters a great deal, but I think it's fair to say Pawlenty was days late in sending a statement to RedState and coming out for Hoffman in NY - 23. Pawlenty said some interesting things, the most interesting of which is here at Hot Air:
“His solutions are federalization of policy, spending way beyond anything we’ve seen in terms of deficit or debt levels, spending the country into bankruptcy,” Pawlenty says. “And what’s behind it is a philosophy that government knows best, a nanny-state mentality on domestic issues that will ultimately be corrosive to the other pillars of our country — to markets, private enterprise, individual responsibility, freedom and liberty.”…
The above paragraph is what struck me most, causing me to wonder if we aren't all a dollar short in describing precisely what Obama wants to do. If the post-World War II period was dedicated to fighting Communism, aren't we now even more fully engaged in fighting socialism, Euro or not, here in the United States?
Obama looks mostly to Europe, though he has shown a frightening willingness to embrace the Southern hemishpere's neo-communists, as well. Does liberal really serve to define what Obama is anymore? I'm not so sure.
He looks to Euro-Socialism and sees everything he wants America to become. That is the model he is working from. But how do we fight against it if we aren't even willing to describe it for fear of sounding alarmist, or unhinged? I don't care how the word polls, good or bad. I'm thinking it's time to pronounce Obama and his agenda precisely what they are - socialist and looking to bring down the last great remaining free capitalist system in the world so as to bring it in line with too much else of a statist world.
What else can one call it with any degree of honesty? Certainly liberal no longer serves. The Left abandoned classic liberalism a decade ago. And the New Left has only gotten worse. It's time to draw the battle lines more clearly, start speaking of what freedom, capitalism, individualism and self-determinism actually are and explain to people how they won't be much of anything in some new Obama-designed state. It's time to forget about compromise and begin rejecting Obama and his grand plans completely as he and they deserve for being un-American in the most important meanings of the word.
Obama sold his healthcare proposal as a way to reduce costs and help the economy. But, Pawlenty says, “I think it’s going to go down as one of the biggest bait-and-switch acts in history, in the sense that the diagnosis of the problem for the healthcare delivery system in the country was supposed to be cost-containment. In other words, we need to make it more affordable for individuals and families, businesses, and governmental entities. But instead they are now focused substantially on expanding access.”…
“President Obama has governed in an extremely liberal way, and he hasn’t accomplished many major initiatives, but the few that he has have been almost exclusively partisan. That defies what he said during the campaign and doesn’t live up to that promise.”

Maybe it is time to call a Spade a Spade?

Dan would probably lose control of his bladder if he ever met a REAL radical leftist. Obama is a moderate liberal. He's practically tip-toed around big business in his economic and healthcare-related activities, to the point where many REAL lefties have become frustrated and impatient. He could (and probably should) have cut the health insurance industry off at the knees and gone with a single-payer healthcare plan, but instead, he and Rahm made deals with Big Pharma and other industry players. He's bent over backwards to enlist Republican support at every opportunity. However, who is UNANIMOUSLY opposed to working with Obama on ANYTHING? The Republicans, who are, of course the REAL radicals.

Bob
If it wasn't illegal and Obama thought he could get away with it he would be Chevez. however while Obama is not the brightest bulb in the box. He does understand enough that his actions so far have awakened a major backlash and if he continues down the road too quickly the american people will turn enmass and drive him from the office. so he is playing it step by step. How 20% of the population's views can come to be the only view represented in Washington Dc is beyond me.

"How 20% of the population's views can come to be the only view represented in Washington Dc is beyond me."
20%? You must be talking about teabagging wingnuts or something. Check out the latest Washington Post poll:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/polls/postpoll_101909.html?sid=ST2009101902502
1. Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as president? Do you approve/disapprove strongly or somewhat?
Approve: 57%
Disapprove: 40%
4. How much confidence do you have in [ITEM] to make the right decisions for the country's future - a great deal of confidence, a good amount, just some or none at all?
Obama: 49%
Republicans in Congress: 19%
Democrats in Congress: 34%
So if you're talking 20%, you must be talking about Republicans.

The polling was probably done on the street and out of the 1,000 they could only find 400 identified as Republicans or Independents. The rest were leftist libbies. Usual ratios for most of the polls.

Bob...
Sigh.
Get a dictionary.
Dan...
Obama is a Marxist. A true believer. We're supposed to believe that, on the one hand, he's this brilliant person, but on the other, he surrounds himself (from his childhood for cripe's sake) with Socialists/Communists/Marxists/Leftist Radicals and doesn't know it?

Most people being polled are self-identifying as Republican at about a 20% rate. Not just for this poll but for most recent polls. If they hadn't sampled around 20% Republicans, then the poll WOULD be skewed one way or the other. They try to put them at the same representation as they are in the general population. In other words, that's exactly how it SHOULD be done.

This little chink of light is illustrative of the social-engineer/Marxist worldview. An all-knowing Dear Leader rules by decree, without any of the quibbling kulaks daring to hinder his progress.

Maybe it's time to finish WWII once and for all and put the Left out of its misery.
