Hypocrisy so bad it hurts - first bit via Andy Sullivan. Yes, Virginia, you can question their patriotism, now. It isn't like it's a war, or anything.
Criticizing a president is one thing - and important. Hoping he fails - even to the point of celebrating a national loss - is a sign of partisanship that has become pathologically blind to any sense of perspective or patriotism.
Oh heck, you can't pick just one. The entire Left has gotten the memo. There was a time when the Olympics might just have to wait because of a war, not now that Obama, who is still dawdling on Afghanistan, is in the White House. And the WH is where the talking point is actually originating.
If only Bush had put out a memo think about how much grief it would have saved everyone. Apparently that's all that's required to question the patriotism of anyone who may not be on Obama's side of an issue.
The Chicago Olympics was always viewed by many as simply a mechanism for Mayor Obama to pay off Mayor Daley for all those favors over the years. After all, someone had to give Michelle a six figure job what with times so bad both halves have to work.
They lost one. Oops, not really, it's never too late to blame Bush. And why not? Patriotism wasn't a requirement under him.

You know, I didn't want New York to get the Olympics for 2012 either, and I'm a native New Yorker and Bush was President at the time. Does that make me double-plus unpatriotic?
Chicago should consider itself lucky.

Now Obama knows how U.S. couples figure skaters feel when they see their scores cards held up by Euro-trash judges.

We really need to take the time to remind these guys they brought this on themselves for the way they acted for the last eight years. We need to answer them with "We support Obama as much as you supported Bush." We need to throw it in their faces until they choke on it.

"Criticizing a president is one thing - and important. Hoping he fails - even to the point of celebrating a national loss - is a sign of partisanship that has become pathologically blind to any sense of perspective or patriotism."
The Left was hoping for exactly that - with US casualties - for 6 - 7 years. I wouldn't have thought that even Excitable Andy would be that blind.

I think the celebratory feeling in some quarters is sheadenfreude after the verbal abuse the left has heaped on their cause. Moreover, what is seen as Obama's rejection tarnishes the sheen on the star he has used to force unwanted legislation on this country. It provides hope he has become politically weaker than he was. However, if the persident doesn't change his ways, our lives will become more dangerous as our enemies think Obama is weak.

If we haven't already reached the point where to hear or to see the word "patriotism" emerge from the mouth or pen of a Leftist does not produce total howling derision across the landscape then something is seriously amiss in the moral and comic universe.

I agree with Rush and have so since he (Rush) said is months ago: I hope B. Hussein fails and fails royally - which he is.
Why? Because just as Rush has said, Hussein bin Obama has strong, repeat, strong, Marxist (socialist, leftist, statist, take your pick of terms) and Islamic tendencies and sympathies. He is an anti-American crybaby, who a slight resume of doing nothing, his entire life, except crying about "social justice" (code for socialism/Marxism, i.e., transfer of wealth).
He inhereted a recession, which many new Presidents do and what has he done so far? Useless and harmful bills have passed (stimulus, budget, cash for cronies, etc.) and he's obsessed with "healthcare reform" when some 90% of American have health insurance and some 85% are satisfied with their insurance situation.
Hussein is transferring wealth in the form of healthcare to his main constituents - the poor, blacks and Latinos (read: illegal aliens).
President ACORN is a joke. He needs to be relieved of duty ASAP.
The only way to help our country today is:
1) Produce energy domestically - oil, coal, natural gas, nuclear power. Build, drill and dig. That will create good paying jobs and stimulate the rest of the economy.
What does our Genius in Chief want to do?
WINDMILLS! He still believes globaloney nonsense! What a hoot!

so the One(termer) goes to europe to campaign for the "US"(chicago), to help his friends and politcal patrons out,
risking some of his credibility....
How many appearances do you think the messiah will make in NJ and Virginia on behalf of democrats in those states, to help them out with their gubernatorial elections?
Simple question:
Were the Olympics in 2016 more important than the governorships of Virginia and New Jersey for the next 4 years?
I'll let obama's actions answer that question.
I caught frank luntz's "killer rabbit" reference, in regards to the olympic rejection. This is a more like a snowball effect-
if he campaigns hard for the dems in nj and va, and loses, the recent loss in copenhagen gets added to the politcal beating he will take.
if he doesn't go, and EITHER candidate proceeds to win, he fails.
if he does go, and EITHER candidate proceeds to lose, he fails. (he can't pick one over the other-if he chooses to participate, he will have to wager equally on both candidates)
he could risk a lot, campaign, and hope for two victories, which is not an impossible task, and actually reassert his influence, or at least make it the appearance, OR, he could accept the coming hits, and play defense, if to only say:
"I care more about my own 'crediblity' than the governorships of two blue states."
This is a guy who was reported to have told someone that some people were "ruining MY presidency"...
unless the polls tighten in BOTH states, he won't risk himself.
anytime the left wants to start crying 'racism', I won't disagree. Much as been made in regards to how other european countries set up their healthcare. A nice followup might include how absolutely pitiful they really are in establishing a blended society, despite their 'egalitarian' nature.

NGT: The poor already have health care. It's called Medicaid and has been in place since 1964, 45 years ago.

Of course Janet and your point is?
Hussein bin Obama wants to give free healthcare the illegal amigos -his new constituency for 2012!
Fork it over, white middle class, ACORN and SEIU want your wealth to spread around.

ar-
the shoulder injury to pennington...
It's like trying to move around in a sea of lead.
forced football withdrawal is never a pretty sight, but in the 3rd week of the season?
it opens the old scar tissue of losing testaverde in 99, in the first game of the season.
even worse is that the yankees are having a good year, but I can't bring myself to watch a game after they blew the 3-0 lead to boston, years back.
life sux.

"The poor already have health care. It's called Medicaid and has been in place since 1964, 45 years ago."
Wrong. Being poor doesn't qualify you for Medicare. In fact, the majority of poor people in the US aren't covered by Medicare.
"Hussein bin Obama wants to give free healthcare the illegal amigos -his new constituency for 2012!"
Wrong - the bill explicitly denies coverage to non-citizens.
Here's a test for you - if you think Obama wasn't born in Hawaii, or is a Muslim, you're probably a moron.
Wingnuts - where patriots wear Flag Lapel Pins and celebrate when the US loses its Olympic bid.
