CNN invokes the malaise word in asking if Obama is Reagan, or Carter. Funny, I thought the media had already answered that question prior to his being elected. They were all talking about him being the new Reagan ... as if there's actually any political comparison. Now they are talking the M word, as in malaise? Ouch!
Politically, Obama and Reagan are polar opposites. In fact, Reagan warned of people like Obama, they aren't exactly new. Remember Reagan's, I'm from the government and I'm here to help you! In 1986, Reagan called them, "the nine most terrifying words in the English language". And they're the only nine words Obama has uttered since arriving in DC.
Talk about out of touch with the American people. Media thinks the culture has somehow changed enough to make those words less frightening to the average American. Maybe they think it's just the rubes who are going to be hurt by all of Obama's government helping? Otherwise, they might have a more realistic appreciation for its incredible downside.
(CNN) -- Nearly a year after the presidential election, the excitement of Barack Obama's campaign has faded into the reality of an Obama White House.
As observers try to determine what time it is in American politics, they arrive at opposite conclusions.
To some, said Tulane University political scientist Thomas Langston, Obama is like Jimmy Carter, and the nation will soon hammer the nails into the coffin of a dying Democratic coalition just as voters, tired of the Carter "malaise" era, handed the White House to Republicans in 1980.
To others, Obama has come to usher in a new understanding of the relationship between the government and the people. To them, Langston said, it's the dawning of a new age, as depicted in a famous 1984 Ronald Reagan campaign ad that declared, "It's morning again in America."

'morning in america' came only after unemployment went from 10.8%(dec 82) to 7.2%(june 84), sixteen months.
we'll be at 9%+ unemployment for the next 3-6 years.
so in some ways, obama will be the source of "mourning in america".
anybody know where I can buy some discount democratic signs,
"it's the economy, stupid" or "jobs, jobs, jobs"?
It's not like the pres should turn his attention to programs that will go into effect BEFORE 2013, but maybe he wants to be working in something that gets results before then. I have to laugh at the dems inability/unwillingness to let the pending healthcare bill be reviewed for 3 days, before it is voted on...
if they are worried abiout it's viability when subject to three days scrutiny, as obama promised, what are they going to do when it languishes on the dissection table 3 years before it goes into effect?

This is not malaise. The opposition to BO Plenty is fired up and not waiting around for this clown to wreck our country. Many people looked on in dumbfounded disbelief as sanctimonious Jimmeh laid waste to our economy, security and standing in the world as a country that thrives on individualism, work and freedom.
I was there, this ain't then.
