According to the WaPo's Eugene Robinson, using a BlackBerry is un-American, provided you're a Republican, of course. What a galling read coming on the heels of the last eight years. Don't conservatives, libertarians and Republicans realize that, unless one sits in divine supplication to the liberal's chosen one when he's speaking, it's an act of such un-American activity the Democrats might just have to launch a committee to check you out?
Meanwhile, Rep. Joe Wilson has raised $200k post you lie, but the Democrat is claiming $750, which I don't necessarily believe. Whatever the case, this calls for action, even unprovoked by Wilson's campaign. Give him your un-American dollars right here. Do it while you still have some in case the Republicans don't win back enough seats in 2010. At this rate, the money changers are going to be tossed from the freest temple in the world and the liberal chosen one is going to take everything we have as seems to be his D for Democrat divine right.
House Republicans were particularly ostentatious in showing their disrespect not just for Obama but for the office he holds. The outburst by Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina -- who shouted "You lie!" when Obama said his plan would not cover illegal immigrants -- was only the most egregious display of contempt. Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, the House minority whip, fiddled with his BlackBerry while the commander in chief was speaking. Other Republicans made a show of waving copies of their own alleged reform plan, which isn't really a plan at all.
Throughout the speech, there was grumbling, mugging and eye-rolling on the Republican side that was not only undignified but frankly un-American.

I don't bother with Robinson, The Racist. His screeds spit in the face of everything Americans hold dear. I have no more patience for Those Who Are No Longer Our Countrymen. They forget the past 8+ years too easily.

Ha, hot off the press
"In a Wall Street Journal column last fall, Scott Rasmussen noted that President Obama won the White House by campaigning like Ronald Reagan."

money is going to help get the dem elected?
you'd think the dems would care more about harry reid going down in flames than in defeating a 5 term congressman, who happened to speak out against the messiah's lie.
this is classic liberal philosophy-
money can get you anything you want, and if you fail to get it, you just didn't spend enough.
I hope these mooncalves raise 60 million for miller. It will just increase their price tag of refusing to accept reality...
joe wilson wins his seat back by 10% of the vote, minimum. that the dems would invest in an impossible task is completely consitent with their beliefs on healthcare.
They'll strip trillions of dollars from americans to pay for something that has no chance of erasing the debt that obama's own budget is creating.

WHAT!! As opposed with the kind, respectful way GWB was treated for eight years? Look, I think Wilson was out of line given the forum but to forget teh disrespect with which the last pres was treated shows musch about the left.

sorry eugene...
maybe decorum at a state of the union might be important, but this was an hour long infomercial, with an audience that really didn't even have to be there.
if obama wanted the free pr by demanding an audience of congress, he should accept that the crowd he invited might disagree with him. He needed joe wilson in the audience, to get his message out. The media wouldn't have covered his 29th speech on healthcare, otherwise.
The only thing presidential about this speech was that a president made it. This wasn't "pomp and circumstance". It was a sock hop, complete with the Britney spears, hit me one more time, getting played for the 30th time.
It was a complete waste of time...

CNN January 2009----
Mr Obams told CNN that the BlackBerry was "just one tool among a number of tools that I'm trying to use, to break out of the bubble. To make sure that people can still reach me. But if I'm doing something stupid, somebody in Chicago can send me an e-mail and say, 'What are you doing?'
Oh my...........

"President Obama spoke of economic calamity and war last night in that solemn rite of democracy, the address to the joint session of Congress. And lawmakers watched him with the dignity Americans have come to expect of their leaders: They whipped out their BlackBerrys and began sending text messages like high school kids bored in math class."
""I did big wooohoo for Justice Ginsberg," Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) broadcast, misspelling the name of the ailing Supreme Court justice. McCaskill could be seen applauding with BlackBerry in one hand."
I guess Sen. McCaskill is un-American too.

Attention it time to send king barry THE EMAIL...'What are you doing?'
Posted by: JustOneMan | Friday, September 11, 2009 at 01:59 PM
viewership...
32 million. assuming that all who watched, loved obama, he couldn't draw half the people who voted for him, less than a year ago. the messiah needs to roll up his tent and move along on the subject of healthcare. the longer he keeps talking the more people he loses.
love to see eugene flapping his wings about how the gop didn't pay attention. At least it was consistent with their constituency.
"un-american"? technically, anyone who actually watched the speech is out of touch with the majority of americans.

Even the MSM isnt talking about the details of king barrys teleprompter event....is it me or do all of his "historic" speeches sound the same?

It's not surprising that Eugene is having a hissy fit over this. If blackness stops being special, then he has to compete on merit, and as anyone who's ever read his columns can tell you, blackness is the only thing Eugene Robinson has going for him.

Eugene Robinson is the kind of twerp who, when notified that an asteroid is about to slam into Earth, rants about how "the African American community will be most affected."
Posted by: MarkJ | Friday, September 11, 2009 at 02:35 PM
To be fair, the BlackBerry is a Canadian device. I'm sure that's what Robinson was getting at.
Posted by: Nick | Friday, September 11, 2009 at 03:46 PM
Hahaha, Robinson is nothing more than a race hustler turned "reporter" for a screed producer fit for fishwrap and nothing more. Well, maybe starting a fire. Please, you assholes on the Left check back with me when you can tell me how you treated President Bush with respect for the past 8 years.
Now, that karma thing is a bitch, isn't it?

Whats with you guys? The republicans are the party of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. The country is in a bad recession, Medicare and Social Security are broke and most republicans are on one or both including Sarah Palin who will get SS payments for her child, the Taliban are winning in Afghanistan and all you can talk about is Joe wilson' boorish behavior. The republican response to Obama's health care speech looked like some junior high school speech which was marginally better than the State of the Union speech where that idiot from Louisiana wanted to cut volcano watch funds just before the Alaskan volcano blew up. The country is tired of wackos like Sarah Palin, Rush, Savage and the like. If you call yourselves Republicans start offering a different better vision than the Democrats. As a long time conservative all I see is Republicans shouting Kill Medicare, kill Social Security, reduce taxes for the fat cats, spend like crazy when in power and point fingers when the other side spends, ignoring non white concern over economic and social problems, thinking lock them up and throw away the key is a successful crime policy, telling unemployed whites, blacks, and browns to tough it out,all the while waving tax protester signs claiming Obama wasn't born here. That doesn't do anything to change anybodies mind.
Posted by: mfellion | Friday, September 11, 2009 at 07:12 PM
mfellion, you hit the nail on the head. The only way the GOP will get my vote in 2012 is if they can prove to me that they deserve it.
Posted by: edouble | Friday, September 11, 2009 at 07:34 PM
The Obama Administration has proven it can't run the Cash for Clunkers program effectively. How many dealers are still waiting for their money? (Most of them.) They also grossly underestimated the cost of the program (original cost, $1B, final cost, over $3B).
If they can't run a simple rebate program, what on Earth makes anyone think they can run 1/6th of the US economy?
Re the Republican "idiotic" response, I actually thought the LA congressman/doctor did a decent job (although the combination of lighting and makeup made the whole thing look like a SNL skit). But the Republicans are right about SS and Medicare... they're both going broke very quickly. The Democrats fought SS reform tooth and nail, and proudly so as they sat up and cheered their obstructionism during a Bush SOTU speech in 2005 or 2006. Oh, wait, I thought that only the GOP was disrespectful during presidential addresses to Congress. :-)
The simple truth is, the Democrats can pass any healthcare proposal they want. They have the veto-proof votes. That they're not is not due to the Republicans, it's due to the American people. Obama, the Great Communicator, has totally failed to sell his plan to the American people, not because of misrepresentations by the Republicans but because many Democrats and Republicans and the CBO all disagree with his assertions about cost factors (like will illegals be covered? Not putatively, but there is no effective enforcement to prevent illegals from obtaining free medical care and the Democrats in Congress specifically refuse to put any effective enforcement measures into the law.)
Obama's speech was ineffective. It didn't convince Americans who oppose his plan to support it. It didn't win him any friends across the aisle (because he insulted them). It didn't appease the far-Left who want single-payer or nothing. So now he has a choice: ram through what he can or forego health care legislation until he can come up with a plan that the majority of the country wants. If he rams it through via reconciliation over the GOP (denying them the opportunity to veto), or even over their unanimous opposition, the Congress will probably revert to Republican control in 2010, and he'll lose the presidency. If he doesn't ram it through, he'll probably lose the 2012 presidential election. He's basically put himself in a no-win situation.

CEO of douchebag fatass UAW thug motors. Handwashing evangelist. Junior Assistant Promoter of Dirty Latin American Socialisms. This would be the office that Robinson charges Republicans with disrespecting, no? Just so we're clear.

Or are you Ready to do the same Thing that Launched Hitler to the top to murder millions, Check your history or is that to much of a Inconvinance for you. I'm really tired of all the cracker conservatives -- just a thin vail for their true intentions. Klansmen and women without the hoods and white sheets. no matter wat Obama says or does, these cracker rednecks will oppose it. If Obama said every man woman and child should carry a gun, these ignorant, unthinking Limbaugh, Beck and Hannity disciples will find something wrong with his position and oppose it. The only lie being told is by the conservative lily white southern rednecks who claim they are not racist. And this is being stated by an American of European descent.
Posted by: Your Mamma | Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 01:38 AM
And you know what, Your Momma?
You just keep telling yourself that as Obama's disapproval ratings rise.
Because you're already telling the plurality of Americans that they are all racists because they dare to criticize or raise an objection to Obama's behavior.
That is just what this country needs -- to realize that the true racists are people like yourself.

Admit it: If we got hit by a terrorist attack again, you venal fools would go after Obama rather than rallying the country together. As much as you hate the evil socialists, we all got behind Bush after that tough election when the country needed us to.
Just admit that you guys aren't moral enough to do it. You are nihilists: the Southern wing of your party was willing to go from Liberal to Conservative just because of civil rights. And you'd abandon the good of your country just to score points against Obama.
You know you would.

"Admit it: If we got hit by a terrorist attack again, you venal fools would go after Obama rather than rallying the country together."
You mean like you and your Obama Party went after Bush, claiming that he staged 9/11?
