It would be naive NOT to speculate that Bill Safire was a child molester! HOW CONVENIENT that he died right after a certain craigslist ad was seen in New York:

"Married white male, 79 years old, is seeking a young male, between the ages of 13 and 15 for some pop-and-play action (that's a reference to amyl nitrate usage, O Gotcha Gang), perhaps some frottering and traditional sodomy as well. Analingus too (that's anus + cunnilingus, dear readers, a neologism that makes this columnist gism).

Sure seems like the prose of William Safire.

Safire was one of the most influential writers of the New York Times... hough not quite as he and his editors had thought. It was he, alongside F!riedman and Sontag that influenced my decision to end - permanently end - reading the New York Times.

I cannot recount the number of times he insulted our intelligence.
