The recent Axelrod comment that Obama is finally going to get busy on pushing health care reform struck me as a little odd.
We’re going to approach it in a different way. The president is going to be very active.”
This blog post originally excerpted in my comments area seems to sum it up pretty well. No crisis gone to waste and no spin gone un-spun, it would seem.
Personally, I am glad the President is finally going to be speaking out on health care reform. We are way overdue for a frank conversation from the President on this issue. It has been too long since his major health care reform speeches on June 15, July 17, his major health care reform press conference on July 22, his heath care reform town hall meetings in Wisconsin (June 11), at the White House (June 24), North Carolina and Virginia (July 29) , New Hampshire (Aug 11), Montana (August 14), Colorado (August 15) and maybe a few other major speeches and media events that I might have missed.
This time the President will be telling us what he wants to see in health care reform now, as opposed to what he wanted to see during the campaign, or David Axelrod's chain-mail of August 13 outlining in detail what the administration expected to see from health care reform then.
Speaking of which - I am doing my part. I have been diligently forwarding David's chain-mail to every e-mail address I can find as he requested. It is the right thing for every American to do.

Just in case big brother is watching, here's an idea. Come up with an actual, completed bill, read it and tell us what it means. I've read most of HR3200 and it has refreshed my low opinion of the average demonrat. Obie could name a ham sandwich a health bill and the lefties would scream for it............

the timing of his 'public school' address falling on the 8th, to be followed on the 9th by his address to congress, is his attempt to 'become "very active"? dominating the news cycle when one is popular is a good strategy. Fixing oneself to the prow of a sinking ship is suicide.
Maybe obama's preemptive appearance on the 8th is to explain to little kiddies that their school buses will sound funny, come monday morning, because he will have either run over his presidency OR the public option, with all available vehicles.
whoever is running this presidency watched waaay too many west wing episodes, and now they have gone to the, 'What would martin sheen do' strategy. They should cancel his presidency, and just go ahead and renew west wing. I'm betting even libs would take it as fair trade.

Nothing some hype on the resurgent swine flu this fall/winter and some fancy penmanship on some executive orders that nobody ever looks at closely can't fix.
Mark my words, we are getting socialised medicine by hook or by crook.

Thanks for the link and sorry about copying the excerpt - If I want to comment, and it's on topic, I can't generally say it any better than I did the first time.

"Personally, I am glad the President is finally going to be speaking out on health care reform."
Personally, I'll be glad if he ever shuts up. Which I doubt he will.

I am certainly eager to hear which of the twelves sides of his mouth President Obama will speak.
I draw the line if he adds a thirteenth side.

As he normally does he will stand up and drop his pants and speak from his vertical smile.
