I guess this is what passes for the terror threat linked to Right Wing extremists in the Hamptons. I wonder how they reacted when Alec Baldwin went off on his daughter?
Sag Harbor
Maryann Calendrille called police on Sept. 16 after hearing a phone message at Canio’s Books on Main Street from a person who was angry that the store didn’t have a copy of Mark R. Levin’s “Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto.” The caller ended the message by saying, “Have a nice freakin’ week.”

I don't know why anyone bothers going to a brick and mortar bookstore anymore. Amazon FTW!
The last time I went to one (only because I had some time to kill before a dentist appointment) I spent an hour in it and could find nothing that I wanted to buy. I was rather surprised by that because I like reading about a wide range of subjects. In the History section most of the books there were revisionist history-what few there that were not I already owned. The biography section was chock full of worshipful biographies of 0bama, Kennedy, Kerry and that ilk and what few that were not I either had already read or the person who was the subject of the book was of no interest to me (like Princess Di). I went over to the sports section and found nothing there that interested me, same with the travel section. The new/current books were nothing but pure propaganda for the 0bamamessiah and the Corruptocrat/ "Rev." Al Gore and his Branch Carbonians. I couldn't even find anything in the discount section that interested me. I did, however, find a Desktop Titanic "toy" by the cash register that I thought was funny so I bought that.

Wow; "Have a nice freakin' week" is a terror threat?! She must not have worked retail very long. ;^)

Liberals don't use the word "liberty" anymore because it frightens them. Combining the words "liberty" with "conservative" in the same sentence is the sum of all their fears.

Maryann Calendrille is a writer based in Sag Harbor, NY. Since 1999, with Kathryn Szoka she owns and operates Canio's bookstore in that village, curated selection of new and used books and a strong poetry collection, and a gathering place for writers and artists for more than 25 years. Their website offers a link to the "Progressive Coalition" http://www.caniosbooks.com/goodlinks.asp
I think their highlight must come from being in the NYT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2000/11/19/realestate/if-you-re-thinking-of-living-in-sag-harbor-a-wave-of-wealth-for-a-whaling-port.html?pagewanted=all
But don't get her twisted! Her enclave is changing and she does not hold with people using their wealth in her utopia in such ways:
[blockQuote] Maryann Calendrille, co-owner of Canio's Books, a popular new and used book store with large poetry and literary fiction collections, would agree. Sag Harbor, she said, ''used to pride itself on being the un-Hampton, but in the past five years it has exploded to become a place for the young and the wealthy. The real estate market is out of out of sight, alarmingly, and it's changing the character of the village.''
Ms. Calendrille said big Victorians and other houses that once had apartments were being bought up and restored to single-family dwellings. ''The owners,'' she said, ''are wealthy people who occupy them two months a year.'' [/quote]
Ready for her closeup Mr. DeMille:

Clearly, the phone message was crude beyond her Vermont College of Fine Arts thesis "The Emotional Impact of Syntax in the Work of Gertrude Stein" level and upset her delicate sensibilities. I would say she and her partner might dedicate one of the bookstore gatherings to pray for this lost soul but they don't carry any religious works. It might attract those clinging to guns. And isn't it enough they suffer the great unwashed through summer tourism? Honestly, there can be a limit to Prozac's abilities.
However, don't we all look forward to poetry reading inspired by Mark Levin and his Ma Bell conspiracy. I wonder, will they start off with Poe?
