Good analogy and similarities with the movie...

Inexperienced, egotistical, greedy, failed captain leads a group of inexperienced gullable fisherman to the Flemish Cap (aka Socialism).

Where they perish and are never heard from again...

Staring the idiot George Clooney...in the Obama version Barry will be played by Jaleel Ahmad White aka Steve Urkel

"Inexperienced, egotistical, greedy,"

Quite a slew of accusations coming from a bucket fisherman who admits, "I can't fish!"

speaking of "starring clooney"...

rather amazing that hollywood hasn't been exactly speaking up. all we need is george clooney to tell us how we don't know what's good for us, and that we are un-american racists.

even oprah is laying low.

maybe matt damon can write a movie about why we need to public option.

oprah laying low? Like hiding a rhino behind a flag pole!

in regards to oprah and hollywood,

I thought nancy had a popular pitch. Tax millionaires, to help pay for healthcare. at my core I believe the top marginal rate is too high, but I thought from the experience of watching the admin returning to the old cap gains rates in 2010 and a with a push to increase the top marginal rate, pre bush, that taxing the VERY rich was so doable for this party.

They backed off, though...

i guess their deep pocketed friends don't really like america.

once you get over 250k, everyone above the line is functioning at a flat tax. scarlett johansen will pay the same tax rate on a 7 million dollar movie role, as doctor who works 70 hours a week, just to make 500k.

if the dems were really into progressive taxes, why do they tx the uber wealthy in the same manner as the people who are actually producing something?

"US talk show queen Oprah Winfrey leads a list of the world's most influential celebrities, with earnings of $US260 million ($310 million) from her vast media empire, according to Forbes magazine's annual list of powerful celebrities."

"Behind Winfrey, professional golfer Tiger Woods ranked second on the Forbes list of the most powerful celebrities, raking in $US100million this year -- the first time an athlete has earned that much in a single year, the magazine said. Most of his income came from endorsements."

"Hip-hop star Jay-Z came in ninth place with earnings of $US83 million over the past year, considered by the magazine as one of several "Hip-hop impresarios" who have broadened their commercial influence beyond their music.

The top 100 included 50Cent, ranking 32nd with earnings of $US33 million and Sean "Diddy" Combs in 43rd place with $US23million."

I'm starting to get the idea that the wh doesn't want a millionaire tax, because it might be a tad discriminatory against minorities.

oprah, tiger woods, jay-z, p diddy, 50 cent...

a millionaire tax fails, but we are about to see this admin raise taxes on the middle class, to fund something they won't ask millionaire celebrities to pay for?

isn't the heart of the socialist argument centered around progressive taxation?

Don't think the "public" is going to get tired, or bored...about health care...after all the baby boomers started retiring during 2007-2009. Baby boomers weren't considered actually the quietest of generations. Smile.

One thing about old farts, they have a lot of time on their hands to nurse a grudge. And while their short term memories are iffy, their longterm memories are topnotch.

And they are DESPERATELY devoted to their Medicare/Medicaid. Barry's got a problem that isn't going away.

I can't wait to see the list of people who had bank accounts in Switzerland. At first they only wanted the top 150, now it's all of them. Why did UBS cave?

0bama himself admitting that he is going to impose government-run healthcare:

Air America is complaining about deal with big Phrma, wants to puke.

"rather amazing that hollywood hasn't been exactly speaking up. all we need is george clooney to tell us how we don't know what's good for us, and that we are un-american racists."

Don't worry, he learned from Jon Voight
