Update: Also another blogger unhappy with Politico over this here.
What a dishonest, self-serving passage from Jonathan Martin at The Politico on the Sarah Palin divorce rumors sourced to a low-rent liberal blog and a CNN clown. Does the Palin team get credit for quick response PR to debunk a bogus claim from a bogus liberal blog? Nah. See, that you're even reading this is actually Sarah Palin's fault.
Sarah Palin beats press to blog claim
By having her spokeswoman repeat the charges to rebut them in a public form, Palin effectively guaranteed coverage from the mainstream media that otherwise would not report claims attributed to unnamed sources on an anonymous blog.
Ofcourse, not. If the Palin squad had not taken action, the news tonight would be the frenzy of reporters besieging the Palin camp to get a denial of a shocking claim. Boy, I'd bet they'd just love to get a no comment to that one. Or, the story would read, Palin denies disturbing reports sourced to Alaskan blog.
It's just as I retweeted to the LA Times when they launched their latest item that was actually behind the breaking news. Has Sarah Palin gone dark? Nah, she's just discovering she doesn't always need a biased media to make the news.
Sarah Palin 'goes dark' on Twitter: She hasn’t tweeted all week. Has Sarah Palin "gone dark?..

Tomorrow's headline...today!
"Palin to MSM: 'Take your Twitter and put it where it don't tweet'"

I think the Politico article was right on when they said, "But conflating such allegations by political opponents with the reporting of the mainstream media also endears Palin to her conservative base"
typical tactic of the ever victim Palin to suggest that "journalists" are attacking her. Of course, it was nothing of the sort. In this day and age every public persona can find some blog that says something idiotic about them, But good ole' Sarah loves it because she can once again start wailing about being attacked unfairly. What a freakin whiner. And the wingnuts eat it up. Danny boy don't you feel manipulated? jeeese

I am not a fan of "Politico". The news media shouldn't make this stuff up about Palin. They need to forget her. She is not the Governor of Alaska anymore. I don't know if she will run or not run for President in 2012. It is just to early to tell.

This woman doesn't have to do anything and she is talked about. She's been gone a week, not a word from her and these fools miss her so much it's pathetic. And if she doesn't say a thing she's still a victim, how can that be???? So, we haven't heard a word, we haven't seen her at all but she's a whiny baby?! You people are insane! Turn your computer OFF and get a LIFE!!!

Hi Anonymous (good screen name, by the way)
The news media didn't make stuff up about Palin. The rumor comes from an Alaskan blogger and has been repeated by some other Alaskan bloggers. Since I don't routinely read Alaskan blogs, this story would not have hit my radar screen had Sarah Palin ignored it.
That is and always was my recommendation to her - ignore, ignore, ignore!

Unfortunately, Ms Palin (I don't know her so I won't call her by her first name) is in a President Bush funk(?). She's hated by the MSM for having the moxie to present herself"as is," and isn't a product of some whiz-bang Ivey league, leftist school. She's real people, just the sort the MSM despise.
My advice to the MSM, get over yourselves, you ain't that important anymore.

I think John Cole got it about right:
"Without reading one story, let me guess: one random person on the internet makes something up, several others repeat it, then dozens of gravely offended right-wingers rush to defend Sarah’s honor, Palin camp denies the rumor, we spend the next two weeks talking about what a victim Sarah Palin is.
Am I getting this right"

By quitting you think that the word would go out that she's tired of being harassed by the media, and that there is very little left to say. They have nothing left to accuse her of, and now they're trying to rock her marriage. I guess as long as people read it, they'll keep thinking up crap to print. It reeks of desperation on their behalf.

If by what you mean is 'One Alaskan Blogger' you really mean a freelancer for CNN.. then, yeah.

Don't gossiping liars have anything better to do with their time? Sheesh. GET OVER IT ALREADY! Why keep coming up with more lies about Palin? Why keep shining a spotlight on her? Shine the spotlight elsewhere as in on OBAMA and his SOCIALIST AGENDA that he's trying to shove down all of our throats. CHANGE that you can certainly BELIEVE IN!

That the guy "freelances for CNN" isn't the same as "CNN covered the story," anymore than something on your personal blog is the same as speaking on behalf of the company for whom you work.
Ace there is right about the rumors... It's silly lying bullshit gossip, just like the "obama mama" vintage nudie pix that a few of the more "on the fringe" wingnut sites started hawking again this weekend (in response to the Palin rumors, oddly enough. Hypocrisy? You betcha...) Neither rumor is worth the electrons they're distributed with.

Palin's people responded because they were getting questions from "reputable" media. They cut the reporters off at the knees, and now people are bitching because of it.

Is it just me or is Slide ONE BORINGGG LIBERAL TROLL? Sheesh

Let's see a kook fringe leftist blogger makes shit up about the Palins. Then it gets transferred as "NEWS" to Politico punks and then to CNN. Soon an army of reporters from all news sources will be engaging in a feeding frenzy regarding the rumor, and some actually did just that. Sarah's spokeswoman is brilliant to issue a response to this garbage. If she didn't she would be reeking of incompetence. By defending oneself from garbage that got spread to the dinosaur media it makes you look strong and the accusers look like pathetic pukes. Hey Slide, Palin's people responded to this garbage because the MEDIA ASKED them about you moron! Gee whiz
