Update 2: Done. Submitted for an important final review to a friend before posting. Should be soon. Thanks for your patience.
Update: Final write is done, asked Stacy to take a look. Need to do the normal editing for typos and such myself, as well. Looking it over, I sure hope some of my readers are lawyers - this next story gets pretty deep and somewhat complex.
I'm in the homestretch, working through a hopefully final re-write while calling on Stacy to lend a hand in the news editing phase. As I just remarked in a phone call to him, I think I had a few hours sleep, not really sure.
Talked to Eddie Burke of Alaska radio - pardon me for not getting a link right now, want to get back to it ASAP. Nothing is ever certain, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm on with Eddie tonight, if so, time to be announced.
In the meantime, sorry for the teasing. It's in my nature. So is humor. So, you have some laughs while I finish up and post ASAP.

No rush, Dan. When your ready, your ready. But sounding good!

No pressure, Dan, but just keep in mind that this is pure torture.

gorno,
that is disgusting
what the hell is wrong with you?

Gorno, lad... Barbara is right. You might catch a dose of something.

Ran,
um that isnt what I meant but funny ;)
Posted by: Barbara | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 10:25 AM
Sorry Babs, sometimes when I get excited I lose control of my bladder.
Besides, liberals love having bodily fluids splashed into their faces and I would get a gold star for being so attentive to their needs.
Posted by: Gorno | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 10:33 AM
You've been doing a superb job Dan. Kudos!
Posted by: Jenny Cubachi | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 10:34 AM
No. NO you're not sorry about the teasing. You're sitting in front of your computer giggling with glee and you're soooo excited you have to share BUT you can't yet so you tease; knowing this will enflame our curiosity even more.
So no. I don't believe you're one bit sorry for teasing this story.
But that's ok, I need something to look forward to these days.
I am waiting with bated breath. (what the hell is bated breath anyway? does it smell bad? does my breath smell bad? OH NOOOOOO.)
see too much imagination and no outlets makes jakee a little nutso. Bring on the a$$ whoopin' We want blood in the water, squeals of fear and pain, loud protestations of innocence.
Posted by: jakee308 | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 10:45 AM
I consider myself a liberal and I don't "love having bodily fluids splashed in" my face... that's revolting. So Gorno, you got it wrong, at least in my case. Maybe all the OTHER liberals in the US like it??? I wouldn't know. Very curious, how did *you* find out this interesting factoid about liberals? Personal experience or did you just read about it?
Looking forward to your story, Dan. Thanks for doing this blog.

"I sure hope some of my readers are lawyers - this next story gets pretty deep and somewhat complex." -- Dan Riehl
IOW "facts are so loose, you can interpret anything based on your bias."
It's one good thing about having "limited resources" Dan Reihl complained about, you don't have to verify facts, do more research or actual journalism that might weaken your case.

"I sure hope some of my readers are lawyers - this next story gets pretty deep and somewhat complex."
Folks, Dan Reih has done some research and collected some interesting "facts".
He will only speculate a bit on his findings in his next post.
And for everyone else, you are welcome to speculate wildly--there is so much room!

Well, since this mess started I have attempted to post the following message six times on Griffen's blog:
"Tick tock, Jesse. Tick tock."
So far, Jesse hasn't had the stones to actually allow that innocuous comment to get past moderation.
Wonder why that is....
Anyway Jesse, if you're reading here, and we both know you are, here's what you, and your blogasites need to know:
"Tick tock, Jesse. Tick tock."
Posted by: Aye Chihuahua | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 11:13 AM
Pyous has a point...
I mean, look at "Fake but Accurate" Mapes and Dan Rather, or at the Duke (non)Rape Case. It was the blogosphere that did the work "real" journalists wouldn't do.
...It just wasn't the point Pyous had intended.

Sort of like Obama Party blogger Jesse Griffin.
Isn't it hilarious how liberals like Pyous will let their bloggers post whatever they like without demanding verification of facts, research, or journalism, but then try to impose all of the following on conservatives?
Why, it's like their Barack Obama has a double standard.

Ran has a point...
As does DarkSyde:"There's a lot of good, solid, gum shoe reporting done by beat journalists who never get half the credit they deserve. No question about it. And the point isn't so much that blogs can be better than traditional journalism. It's that blogs, at their best, are every bit as good and -- as amply shown in this case -- often better."
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/7/27/758292/-Get-Your-Own-Facts-Straight
But blogs that aren't at their best can be worse than your average journalism.
...it just wasn't the point Ran had intended.

folks, Dan and Stacy are about to expose a PAID NETWORK of smear merchants. The only question will be: "How far up the chain does this go, and how much of it can be proven?" Proving that payments were passed to certain individuals is the diciest part. Professional political smear merchants are experts at covering up their payments to their proxies.

While we're waiting: REID LOSING NEVADA!
New poll in Nevada by Vitale & Associates (July 29-30, 510 LV, MoE +/-4.4%) shows incumbent Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid losing by six points to Sue Lowden, chairwoman of the Nevada Republican Party, 44-38, with 10% undecided.

"Professional political smear merchants are experts at covering up their payments to their proxies."
So some liberals mayn't be as good as the experienced conservatives at that? No surprises there.

"So some liberals mayn't be as good as the experienced conservatives at that? No surprises there."
LOL....of course, what we're seeing here is how a liberal demands proof and facts and verification, but then spouts off with none of the above when cornered.
And as for "birthers", remember, the liberals whining about them are the same people who insist Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy.
Posted by: North Dallas Thirty | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 12:13 PM
So anyone who isn't a conservative is a troll? Is it a "You're with us or you're against us" kind of thing?
Whateves!! :D

NDT. I love when people say she faked her pregnancy. She actually let me touch her stomach when she was pregnant. You can't tell me that it was fake... when I felt "something" moving!

Hmmm, I wonder if this scum bag is Griffin's 'source'? He sure doesn't have any credibility to lose, since he never had any to begin with. Just came across on Twitter:
Sarah Palin has marital woes, almost-son-in-law Levi Johnston says (New York Daily News) http://ow.ly/15KCyt
Posted by: John H | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 12:51 PM
Dan - your recent posts have indicated that you are at least somewhat overwhelmed by some of the aspects (researching, editing & proofreading) of writing your stuff, especially in recent weeks.
I have some time (currently unemployed), a lot of skills, and a huge amount of interest in doing just that sort of work. Can we have an off-line conversation regarding my helping you out, gratis? Thanks!

Folks, the only thing that Dan can be doing is exposing a money trail. Perhaps some pedophilia, too, but, ahem, my money is on the money.....
Posted by: Plumpplumber(balding) | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 01:01 PM
My money (and my hopes) are on the money, too.
Posted by: Lisa Graas | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 01:03 PM
Levi Johnston is being wined and dined by the far left celebrities, Kathy Griffen (just caught that) I'm sure loves this beyond her wildest fantasies. I can't help but think, if anyone here has ever seen her standup, that she not only is convincing Levi to be an unprofessional twit and attack a family that was probably very nice to him, but also trying to convince Levi that he really is a gay man, she is obsessed with that stuff. John H, I think I agree with you, this is probably the source. His immaturity is a boon find to the left as I would bet he is very easy to manipulate, especially becoming an overnight icon.

My hopes are on your tsunami of expectation watering down to a flush in the drain.

Plumpplumber(folically challenged),
Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!
Here is why you are correct, sir: Dan & Stacy are gentlemen, and calling out pedophilia - even if it was true - potentially exposes the victims in the process of making the charge thru the media, especially the blogsphere. NO ONE WANTS THAT.
Yes, it is shopworn but always true. FOLLOW THE MONEY!
Posted by: DanO | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 01:12 PM
Sarah, you say liberal, do you actually mean Democrat? There is a difference :)

Alaska Trust Fund, SarahPac...oh, wait they are "experts at covering up their payments".

"And as for "birthers", remember, the liberals whining about them are the same people who insist Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy."
Don't forget their favorite "Controlled Demolition of Tower 7" Dallas!!!
or what about the "Tax cuts for 95% of Americans" talking point!!
Dan, as far as checking your facts just do what Dan Rather, Rueters, NY Slimes, AP, LA Slimes and the Washington Compost do......
Just like the evil Jew's "so called" missle attack on the Lebanese Ambulance, don't let facts get in the way of a good story!!!
Don't worry just post it!!!
Posted by: SacTownMan | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 01:18 PM
"Sarah, you say liberal, do you actually mean Democrat? There is a difference :)"
Yeah right, most liberals are democrats, rarely republican. While many who consider themselves conservative vote democratic.
Posted by: Pyous | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 01:21 PM
"what about the "Tax cuts for 95% of Americans" talking point!!"
Nate Silver of 538:
Obama Has Cut Taxes for 98.6 Percent of Working* Households**
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/08/obama-has-cut-taxes-for-986-percent-of.html
"A recent Rasmussen poll found that just 15 percent of likely voters believed that "President Obama cut taxes for 95% of Americans". Technially, they're wrong -- Obama has not cut taxes for 95 percent of Americans. But he has done so for in excess of 98 pecent of "working" tax households. It's time for the White House to start taking a little credit for having done so."

Dan has got nothing - so far anyway. He has a blogger that he doesn't like, that may have posted some rumor about the Palin's marriage that seems to be increasingly confirmed by Levi who certainly was in a position to know (he freakin lived in their house). Dan then digs up a couple of adult comments that the blogger once wrote about that were hardly shocking and tried to tie in the fact that he worked as a teacher's assistant. Of course Dan is trying to make the association from these scant little threads that the blogger must therefore be a pedophile. Oh, of course he is careful enough not to say that directly, that is why he has all of you for. Thuggery at it's finest.
I'll reserve judgment until I see what Dan digs up in his next blockbuster revelation but to date I can only say, "you ain't got nothing kid !"

I still don't understand how you can "cut taxes" for people who don't make enough income to pay taxes. Makes no sense.
Posted by: Lisa Graas | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 01:28 PM
"I still don't understand how you can "cut taxes" for people who don't make enough income to pay taxes."
according to the Tax Policy Center, more than 88 percent of families and independent individuals will pay payroll or income taxes for 2009.
Moreover, income and payroll taxes are not the only taxes paid by people in this country. In addition to, for example, sales and other state taxes, people in the United States are required to pay applicable federal excise taxes, including 18.4 cents per gallon of gasoline in federal excise taxes.
