I'm not suggesting we forget Sarah Palin in a political sense. The headline is a bit of a device, as headlines should always be. I suspect we'll be defending her against unhinged attacks from the Left for some time. But have you noticed how often she invokes the military and has already shown serious devotion to supporting them? She has a son in Iraq, after all. How many politicians had children in Vietnam decades back, unless it was mostly to check a box of some kind?
And today is Sunday. So, while we'll be back involved in what amounts to almost silly fights in comparison, take a moment to pause and remember someone who has been all but forgotten for far too long.
The Department of Defense has positively identified the remains of a U.S. Navy pilot shot down over Iraq in the opening hours of the 1991 Gulf War.
CBS News Pentagon correspondent David Martin reports that remains found in Iraq have been confirmed to be that of Captain Michael “Scott” Speicher, who disappeared on January 17, 1991 when his F-18 went down in Al Anbar province.

As one former aviator to another, I say welcome home Captain Speicher. It's been a long time coming, and long overdue...
RIP, and thank God for providing some closure for his loved ones.

To Fouad Ali: kindly cut your fingers off before you issue stupid internet directives to people who certainly don't answer to you or your religion.
Fixed!

Look, I can't honestly say whether Sarah Palin lacks education or is just plain dumb, but my saying so hardly qualifies as an "unhinged attack from the left". I am sorry for the family of Captain Speicher - it must be awful for the family to go without closure for so long. It sounds as if the Bedouin treated his remains with respect and buried them in accordance with their tradition.
Sarah Palin is just playing up the "support the troops" thing for political purposes. Joe Biden has a son in Iraq too - probably didn't know that because your right wing bias doesn't allow you to admit it. Or perhaps because Joe doesn't play it up for political purposes. Either way your blog is total lame-o.

To the parents and loved ones of Capt. Michael "Scott" Speicher. May you find comfort from Lawrence Binyon's "Poem's For The Fallen"...
"They shall not grow old,
as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning,
We will remember them."

Sarah Palin is a courageous and intelligent woman.
No matter what people say about her,
She will not be forgotten......
Just wait and see!

Agreed, Joye!
Sarah was the best of the lot but the media had already picked whom they wanted in the White House, giving the Go Ahead for Obama to literally bash her half to death while we had to watch.
She was right.
He is not qualified and probably thinks Kenya is a continent.

Red White and Blue,
I'd much rather have a conservative in the White house than Obama! Sarah is conservative! So she supports her son! She has always supported the military!. Being a former military man myself, I can say that she gave more support to the troops than Obama! He is out there apologizing for the troops!
