Ever wonder why when Mr. or Mrs. Polar Bear is chasing Mr. Eskimo, or American tourist, it's perfectly fine because they's just doing their thing.
Sure, but let some poor fellow take out after one of them with a 30.06 and he's evil incarnate, or something like that. If God didn't intend for man to have guns, lightning wouldn't go boom.
Anyway, soon we may be able to chase them on foot and strangle the little buggers by hand, though I wouldn't count on it happening too soon. h/t Instapundit.
Scientists in Denmark are warning that polar bears are getting smaller. The researchers say the reduction is linked to climate change …
Score this as a clear win. See, your modern full-sized poley bear is a human-chomping, truck-molesting brute:

this is the ultimate democrat policy.
they will have to cut back on consumption, and then there will be more for everyone. no longer will a mother have to starve her cubs, to favor the strongest. This will offset those polar bears who are drowning becuase they can't swim. if you love polar bears, we need MORE global warming.

I hope cows don't grow as big as dinosaurs. The methane would destroy every planet from here to that thing that used to be a planet but now it's not........or something.
I just love science. *urp*

Why do they automatically attribute the size difference to climate change? (Yes, that's rhetorical; they attribute everything to climate change).
I think it's more likely a survival issue; big ursae maritimus tended to cause trouble for people, and were less likely to have surviving children. Smaller ones were content to eat fish.
Last I heard, sloths were smaller as well. :)

The last polar bear census figures I saw showed populations at record high numbers. They might be coming under pressure due to overpopulation.

"Sure, but let some poor fellow take out after one of them with a 30.06 and he's evil incarnate, or something like that."
Damn right. The 30-06, even with the 180gn ball load, is too light. Shot placement would be everything - and if you are not spot-on-vitals first shot, you're lunch. One would be better to use the 338 Win. Mag. or better, the 375 H&H. No sense making the poor thing suffer.
As to the "polar bears are getting smaller" bullshit... given a stable prey population, and increased numbers of bears, well of COURSE unit mass must decrease. Crosspatch has it nailed: Local overpopulation of just about any species of organism illustrates the mass/resource ratio constant.

Maybe scientists in Denmark just need to check which end of the telescope they're looking into.

Does this mean the baby seals are off the hook?

I thought about citing the 338, but figured I'd leave that for pussies like you who can't handle a little risk, Ran!! ; )

Gee, if they are going to grow smaller then we will be able to control them better and they want hurt us. We can build an ice castle in our yards an a mini water pool like at the zoo and have them as pets.
My Golden would love playing with one.
Desperation is growing out of control. I Wonder how much AL WHORE paid that group OF LOONS to come up with that BS.
Is it just me, or did we just have a cooler summer than normal this year?
