At the end of his presser Carnahan denounces any confrontation, claiming to be focused on the debate. Oh really? Then why is Obama telling people to shut up? Because he can't afford a debate, he'll probably lose and he knows it.

Obama is an arrogant, inexperienced dilettante whose egotism has foolishly convinced him that winning just fifty and a few points plus percent of the vote in 2008 has somehow given him the right to re-make a great nation in whatever image he presumes. And he wants to do it in less than the first year of his first term. What a dangerous, ultimately clueless, narcissistic idiot this guy is proving himself to be.

There exist forces and large numbers of people in America with strongly held beliefs that conflict directly with Obama's. And they most likely aren't about to let some upstart dismiss them simply because he swept into office on a corrupt wind blowing out of south Chicago and Bush had a bad last four years while the media sensed a tingle up its collective leg and headlines they have pined to write since the Sixties.

When you try to significantly move a mountain like America radically in a short period of time you get the equivalent of two tectonic plates that have suddenly lost their locked-grip onto one another, something that has existed for years in America, especially post-sixties.

That Obama fancies himself the one man in the universe with some new grand and golden vision is ridiculously grandiose. A great many others actually do understand it at least as well, if not better than he, they've simply rejected it for competing ideas.  Obama either can't see that out of arrogance, or he doesn't care about it based upon a stubborn ignorance. And he does't intend to let it get in his way. That single thing may go down as the biggest and worst mistake by a POTUS in contemporary times. And one can't even predict the consequences of the confrontation Obama is fostering through his preening impatience.

He's an idiot. And a self-centered one, too. And that is always a dangerous combination. In a POTUS, it could be a disaster.

It's interesting. The Democrats in Congress remember the '94 election when they lost Congress. The single biggest reason then was that scary gun ban. Notice, they haven't touched gun legislation since.

So, now Obama is trying something even worse than the scary gun ban, they are tampering with the very narure of our society. It will be more Congresscritters losing their phoney baloney jobs. It will be tar and feathers and a trip out of DC on a rail.

There are too many different bills, they’re all a thousand pages long, no one has time to read them, no one knows what’s going to be in the final one, the public is agitated, the nation’s in crisis, the timing is wrong, we’ll turn to it again—but not now. We’ll take a little longer, ponder every aspect, and make clear every complication. But of course, obama is NOT that smart.

But you know what would happen if he did this? His numbers would go up. Even Congress’s would. Because they’d look responsive, deliberative and even wise. Discretion is the better part of valor.

I doubt any of that will happen outside of my fantasy land.

Rush made a good point on his show - look back to the totalitarian regimes of the USSR and China and how they deal with dissent: with overwhelming, crushing force. This is a Chicago machine with the full power of the federal government brought to bear, with a huge megaphone and a pliant national media. It's frightening to think what's next, since this has been ratcheted up so fast in just 6 months.

I was convinced that within his first year there would be a terrorist attack again on US soil, because his rhetoric was similar to Clinton's and that weakness gave us 9/11. But now it appears that his domestic policies are going to end up being much worse, because it will take years to undo them, if ever. I bought a passport right after election day last year as an escape plan, and it looks more and more likely that I'll be using it to get out of here.

I believe that when Obama asserted that "change has come to America today" after winning the election, he was referring to some grandiose vision of remaking the country in a scenario where he is the heroic focal point. I think he sincerely sees himself as a heroic revolutionary; anyone who dissents with his vision is a counter-revolutionary to be destroyed. I have never seen such aggressive, bordering on pathological narcissism in any American politician before...and if you read Chairman Mao's "little red book", among other Marxist-inspired literature, you can see striking - and frightening - similarities which explain the seemingly bizarre behavior (blatant double standards, leaps of logic, false moralistic outrage, political aggression based upon emotion rather than facts) we have seen in Obama and top congressional Democrats lately.

Also, an obligatory note on healthcare reform. Clinton tried this and failed -- he had enough sense to realize what a political firestorm would be created to the detriment of his own party if legislation similar to what Obama is proposing was signed into law -- but Obama either doesn't seem to get it yet, or just doesn't care about the consequences.

Obama seems to have a blitzkrieg mentality when it comes to enacting his agenda -- hit hard and fast, before people have time to react and think too much, and when they finally figure out what's going on, it will be too late to do anything. Fortunately, people are coming to their senses and the explosive angry response from Obama and particularly the harder left leaning members of his party is a testiment to a sense that they feel they are being thwarted. Obama also appears to accept no responsibility whatsoever for his own party's hand in helping to create the current economic mess. Once again, he is the savior with the only correct vision -- nothing else, and no one else, matters if they disagree. This is the mentality of not simply a liberal Democrat, but of a violently predisposed radical. Note the recent comment about "getting in the faces" of opponents and his implicitly militant calls to action. No president in history openly used that kind of rhetoric against other fellow Americans, no matter how fervent their political beliefs. I don't care where we was born at this point, or about birth certs, etc. -- this guy is at best Jimmy Carter and at worst, a Marxist.

"Just reporting some fishy stuff I have been hearing like the president wants us to. I don't know all the details but it seems I am hearing this 'fishy' stuff everywhere now. Stuff like "The Democrats are sending professional thugs to town meetings to make sure only healthcare reform supporters get in and to intimidate those who disagree." I also heard that certain congress persons are making up stuff like getting death threats to keep from having to appear in public. imagine that, as if someone would lie about that! Then there is the rumor that the major networks are in on the deal, reporting that people who don't want healthcare reform ala Obama are put up to it by big pharma and the insurance companies.There was also a rumor that eventually everyone except government people would be phased into the one payer system because the other options would disappear. Then there is that nasty rumor about maybe not giving really old people expensive care according to some formula yet using taxpayer dollars to fund abortion (even abortion in other countries, and late term abortion); Then there is that really ugly rumor that Mr Obama has a big advisor on healthcare reform who believes in offing defective babies even up to 2 years old. Then there is a rumor that the majority of Americans really don't want the federal government to do healthcare reform because it is really just the government taking over a big chunk of the economy, wow how did they get that idea? Then there is a rumor I heard recently that care will get worse and there will be long waits for care just like in the UK and Canada. Then just yesterday I heard that medical inovation will be a thing of the past and young people will not want to become doctors. I also heard that the wealth holding effect of large insurance companies is very stabilizing in an economy; then there is the one about former Democrats changing parties and becoming Republicans over this issue. Then there is the one about Obama lying to us about everything so far so nobody trusts him on the healthcare issue. I also heard somewhere that the Democrats want to shut down voices of descent like talk radio and take all the guns and make all young people work in Obama's private army and I heard somewhere that Nancy Pelosi will keep getting her plastic surgery all the time because the people who are high up in government get a totally different insurance plan and will not have to worry about dealing with a government system. Then there was the story that government will intrude in more and more aspects of pople's lives in the name of health. Then there is the rumor about how socialized healthcare has tanked the British economy so will do the same here. Then there is the rumor that government will begin confiscating people's estates after they die just because they have had costly healthcare. I know Medicaid puts a lein on your home after death if you received certain health services here in Texas, but the fed would never do that, would they? I also heard that all our taxes would be really raised just to pay for the new massive bureaucracy. That just doesn't sound like the government I know, but who can second guess the right? I also heard that constitutionally speaking, the government has no right to reform healthcare, its private business. I heard the Democrats are racebaiters and seek to instill class envy as a weapon. My point is I am just hearing this stuff everywhere now. I mean I hear it from everyone and this stuff is all over the internet, even on the radio. Can it ever be contained? Someone even said, the cat is out of the bag, the sleeping giant has been awakened, and one guy said Obama is destroying the democrat party because they will be thrown out of congress in 2010. If you want to talk about poll trends, all you have to do is look at realclearpolitics.com for a synopsis -- the indications are quite the opposite of what you are hoping (people are actually turning away in disgust as you said -- but from Obama and the Democrats), particularly with polls of likely voters, such as Rasmussen (which has a reputation for high degrees of accuracy over the past several years).

The first 6 years of the Bush 43 terms saw unprecedented economic and jobs growth. His unwillingness to fight back against Democrats who were more concerned with destroying his presidency than in what was good for America was his first fatal flaw. His second was his turning a blind eye to the Republicrats who campaigned on conservative principles then spent like drunken Democrats once in office. The result was the loss of congress in 06, at which point the mess was begun. Look it up.

Not necessarily an either/or situation. More likely a toxic mix of both.

This is why Obama has never released his transcripts. Not that he got poor, or even middling grades, I suspect he got decent if not above average grades.

What his transcripts would reveal is just how deeply steeped this man is in far left cant, and only far left cant. He's lived in a bubble all of his life and in many ways is a product of his mother's generation. He is the 'love' child of all of the flotsam and jetsam of Sixties leftist radicals, starting with dear old Mom, moving through Frank Marshall Davis, and on through the likes of Ayers and Wright.

Well, we should hope so. Unfortunately, I'm not sure Obama can ultimately do this: we're dealing with a guy who's "on a mission" and who is trying to "fulfill his destiny." Retreating may be the prudent thing to do, but Lord Zero knows it will reveal, for all the world to see, weakness and even incompetency on his part. The most horrible four-letter word in ObamaWorld is F-A-I-L. Not one step backward!

Instead, we may well see Obama take an "apres moi, le deluge" approach and try to "Chicagoize" his way to a successful conclusion for ObamaCare. Problem is, trying this tactic will simply anger and galvanize increasing numbers of Americans even more. It might work in Chicago, but it ain't gonna play in Peoria. Before every revolution there comes a "radicalizing moment" and that moment may be rapidly nearing for many Americans.

I've read many posts bemoaning "eight years of Obama." To this I have traditionally responded, "What makes you so sure Obama will finish his first term, much less run for a second?"

Unfortunately, I don't believe the Obama crowd has any intention of slowing down or mitigating their policies in the near future. They know they've got precious little time before the 2010 elections, and therefore they must nail down as much legislation as possible before that time. Even then, who knows what will happen with the next elections. With Acorn handling the Census, and the Black Panthers standing guard duty outside polling places, just how fair will these elections be? Just look to Minnesota for your latest roadmap to victory.

As for the social climate all these behaviors will generate....as Rahm would say, "Never let a good crisis go to waste". I believe turmoil is part of the plan.

One simple add-on to the bill would make sure proper time and care is taken in its writing and voting. "Congress will drop current insurance and medical coverage and take what they are voting on. Their coverage will be exactly what they are asking Americans to take. Unions will also have to take this coverage and cannot opt out as they are likely to do with their unwaivering support both physically and monetarily they are giving now."
We know that congress is voting on a bill that will cover others and will never affect them, so let's change that. Then we will see how radical they will get. Since this bill is so huge and affects such a large part of the economy, let's also demand a written test to see if they have actually read the bill. Let them pass a competency test on the ins and outs of the bill. Better yet, leta state like Massachesetts run a sample test on the new bill, and make sure the Kennedy's participate fully in its ramifications.
