Oh, great, now we have misogyny. This is REALLY what it is all about, isn't it guys?

Dan...its obvious! When Barry is on the "down low" he is a catcher NOT a pitcher!

Misogyny? Try as I might I can't throw like a guy. And men can't walk like women.

Yeah, I'd say more cheers than boos, actually. Gateway Pundit has some selective hearing going there. That can be useful at home, of course.

Definitely not an impressive pitch, but I've seen worse throws from men, and I've seen plenty of better throws from women. It's all about repetitions. President Bush's 1st pitch after 9/11 shows the difference between someone who played the game and someone who didn't. On the basketball court the sense of expertise would likely go the other way.

The guy driving the golf cart thingy doesn't seem too impressed....

Lala. I have never heard a woman cheer a man for deriding a guy by saying he throws (acts, talks, runs, etc.) like a woman. The following post by Mark pretty much confirms how sad your notions of your own personal limitations are. But it does not suprise me to see a woman on this blog let men's stereotypes define who she is.

"misogyny"??

Wally, if you're going to reach like that, I've an ideaof how your hands could be put to more productive use.

Ooooh! Now there's Gay bashing, too!!

zzzzzzz

I'm female and I can throw like a guy and swing a bat like a guy. I can do that because that's the way it's done in the sport. You learn the sport. What I cannot do is walk like a guy because my center of gravity is in my hips. A guy's center of gravity is in his upper torso. You can't compare skill with the way you walk. There is no comparison to make.

How, please, is it "misogyny" to point out that the guy has the throwing characteristics typically seen in women? It's great for the gals, but it sucks when a guy does it. Sort of like push-up bras... er, not on guys. Dig?

But it does not suprise me to see a woman on this blog let men's stereotypes define who she is.

Sort of like how you attack Lala based on your liberal stereotypes of what a woman should be and should say.

The funny part is, Wally, if you were truly supportive of women, you would agree that Lala has the choice to act and define herself as she sees fit. But instead, you berate and attack her for not fitting your belief of what a woman should be.

Liberals like yourself are the real misogynists, Wally. Your hatred and attacks on Palin, for example, are the classic sign of an individual who is terrified of a woman who dares to disagree with him and tries to destroy her. Sickening. Just like your party's attacks of hate on any other minority member, i.e. calling them "Uncle Toms", "oreos", "house slaves", and other insults, who dares to be anything other than a syncophant of Obama.

Why are there no women in major league baseball?

cause real women stay home and have babies?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Mitchell_(baseball)

this one is for you Lala, hips and all lol

he throws like a girl, and he thinks like a marxist, ok? can't we all agree on the obvious?

Lala,

"And men can't walk like women."

Wrong. One visit to a Turkish prison will disabuse you of that notion.

I didn't say that throwing like a girl is good or bad, I said I can't throw like a guy. Some of you assumed that I said something different. Shows how you think.

Jackie Mitchell was 6 feet tall, height makes a difference in throwing.

It always amused me that the transvestites in the West Village fooled some people into thinking they were women. As soon as they strolled along it was evident that they weren't.

I'm pretty sure I won a bet: I said that Riehl would have the most petty post about the way the president throws a baseball. Funny thing is, if Riehl knew anything about baseball he would know that the best hitters in the world would have swung over that pitch and looked very foolish in the process. El Duqe, Barry Zito and Tim Wakefield throw pitches like that. Last time I checked, they're all fellas who pitch in the major leagues. I know, I know - facts don't matter.

Let's be fair here - there were substantially more cheers than boos.

That said, Patrick, Barack Obama did throw like a girl.Heis no El Duque or Tim Wakefield. Come on.

GIRLY MAN.

Better to throw like a girl than to opine like a toddler.
(Dan, next time try turning the sound on..or did you just see people booing?)

"--- I'm female and I can throw like a guy and swing a bat like a guy. I can do that because that's the way it's done in the sport. You learn the sport. ---"

It is called PRACTICE.

And for the most part, men, on the average, have better upper body strength and hand-eye coordination to lob a ball at 90+ MPH than most women do.

That's not to say that there aren't large, well-muscled, trained females who could out-pitch most average men, or even exceptional, trained male pitchers. It's just that the genetics and overall male-female dimorphism give males a general advantage.

Unfortunately, the ignorant, utopian, and largely incorrect vision most "progressives" have about the world tends to preclude accepting scientific observations when they don't fit their party line: hence their argument that all females should be struggling to be like men.

God created us male and female. To complement (not necessarily to compliment, haha) each other, in the holy bonds of marriage as two parts of a greater whole.

Seekeronos - not to jump off topic, but i was struck by this irony in your post:

"Unfortunately, the ignorant, utopian, and largely incorrect vision most "progressives" have about the world tends to preclude accepting scientific observations when they don't fit their party line..."
followed by "God created us male and female"...

I'm just sayin'....

"Sgt. Hester followed SSgt. Nein to the right side berm and threw two well placed fragmentation grenades into the trench eliminating the AIF threat. Sgt. Hester and SSgt. Nein went over the berm into the trench and began clearing the trench with their M4s. Sgt. Hester engaged and eliminated three AIF to her front with her M4. They then made their way to the front trench and cleared that as well. After clearing the front trench cease fire was called and she began securing the ambush site. The final result of the ambush was 27 AIF KIA (killed in action), 6 AIF WIA (wounded in action), and one AIF captured."

apparently, some women can 'throw like soldiers'.

Are you serious? It's obvious the guy never played baseball. What's the bfd with the clowns who worship him? Zito's having a bad year Patrick, but on average I'd say that somewhere north of 99% of the guy's pitches make it to home plate.

Mark:

"--- leigh ann hester, awarded silver star.

Indeed they can if, like male soldiers, they are trained.

As an MP (military police) she undoubtedly exhibits a large degree of personal courage and physical ability that is the match or exceeds that of her peers male or female.

However, I also maintain that she is likely to be a specimen of a soldier who is among the elite of her MOS - one that is even to this day, staffed with a far greater proportion of male combat soldiers to female.

I will say that I am personally disinclined toward having females in forward combat situations, for a number of reasons - ranging from the likely targeting of female soldiers for exceptionally bad treatment should they be taken prisoner (especially by enemies from a culture that sees females as little better than chattel property) as well as unique female hygiene concerns under prolonged field conditions, and in general, the general trend toward average females as not generally matching the average male soldier in total body strength and endurance (making a note, however, that females generally are able to endure physical pain to a far greater extent).

Clearly, Sgt. Hester is an exceptional woman and a soldier.

I do not say that females should be precluded from military service, or even a draft - but when IN service, they should not be placed in combat MOS.

Mike:

"--- not to jump off topic, but i was struck by this irony in your post... ---"

And I say that science need not preclude the existence of God, who as the Author and Creator of the universe, would also be the one to set the rules for how it works.

The true irony is however, that the many interpretations of science - are bent by both sides of the ideological stream here in the USA. "Progressives" are as quick to jump on junky science, or to discard sound science whenever it supports their true cause - supporting big government interventionism in everyone's lives.

I'll admit that "my side" can come up with some interesting "scientific" notions too:

Which is why I find it easier to stand on the Word of God when there is a gap between those sacred, eternal words... and the sayings of mere mortal men who think themselves wiser than the Immortal God who knew them whilst they were yet in their mother's wombs.

women in combat...

if you tell them on the front end that they are probably going to be raped if they get caught, and they still wish to proceed, let em fight. something to be said about the fight in a cornered rat.

if they know what fate the might face, they are going to fight a hell of a lot harder.

the one thing that is unique about the role of a soldier, that can make up for a hell of a lot of other shortcomings?
accuracy under fire. about 1 in 10 of the soldiers out there have 'it', and you never know who has 'it', until they are under live fire. i tend to think that this quality is innate, but also independent of sex.

Seekeronos -
Agreed that both/all sides tend to be selective in acceptance/dismissal of science.
As for turning to the 'Word of God' - and assuming you meant from the Bible, Koran, etc. -
those are of course the words of men who some believe knew the intent/thoughts of God.
No disrespect intended.
This is quite interesting: www.codexsinaiticus.org

I've been away so couldn't post but I found this - women may be able to be trained to throw better - but they throw differently from men. As to women in combat, I believe that the Israeli army had to stop sending women to the front because the enemy would not surrender to them.
