Update: Good point. Let's not forget Gates' "Yo Mama" moment. Just who was the offensive one here?
What incredible arrogance this man has (ABC story here). And without the sense to stop digging, at that.
President Obama today stood by his comments that the Cambridge, Mass., police department acted "stupidly" in its arrest of Henry Louis Gates, telling ABC News that the Harvard University professor should not have been arrested.
As I said to someone earlier, I don't think Obama's thinking is racist because he is black. He thinks like a white liberal the way he was raised, more so than a black man who has experienced discrimination first hand. Obama had doors open to him that people of any color rarely see.
Yes, it was likely due to some sense of Affirmative Action, formal or not - but I don't believe he feels black. He looks down on the black community. I referenced that the other day when I said (story link here):
Going all the way back to his campaign, his core vision and message has always been that government is here to help, with little or no emphasis on personal responsibility. Were he a white politician he would be accused of racism for this. But he clearly sees black America as having a different set of issues. Otherwise he wouldn't be emphasizing individual responsibility over collective government action, as he always does.
Obama doesn't get the black community as a member of it. He sees himself as somewhere, or someow above it. They need his superior help.

Obama .... What an ass!

There are times to keep your opinion to yourself and this was the perfect time. Obama should not have commented until he has all the facts....then in only a few word IF he has to say anything.
Posted by: CL McFarland | Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 07:49 PM
The gaffe heard loud and clear in all 57 States, plus Hawaii and Alaska.
It reminds me of the "pitchforks" comment. We are dealing with an adolescent mindset: There is just nothing statesmanlike or presidential about this fool. F^ck, the guy should be posting for Preparation "S" over at Kos, not running an Administration.
Posted by: Troll Hunter | Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 08:05 PM
the word that has been floated, to explain the incident in gates' behalf?
"Profiling."
the only problem is that the profiling argument would only hold true if the police were driving around looking for B&E's by african americans.
These officers were responding to a possible felony. They didn't go looking for him, thye didn't treat him any differently(up to the arrest part, which is a different debate).
If you are black and you are pulled over for being black, you were profiled. The insinutation/defense of profiling in this case is an insult to every black person in america, who has actually been a victim of profiling.

What do ya want to bet that President Waste of Sperm didn't bother to read the arrest report before taking sides on national TV ? And that is EXACTLY what upsets so many white people. It seems as if many blacks are just looking for anything, any excuse to whine, complain, and cry "racism". Guess what ? EVERYBODY gets unfair treatment at times. EVERYBODY doesn't always get the respect they might deserve. THAT"S LIFE. GET OVER IT. Life goes on.
My son in law is an awesome black man about the same age as this pantywaist President. He works his tail off, never complains, always positive and relatively happy despite a pretty tough upbringing. And on his worst day, he'd make a better president than Obama any day of the week...it's all about character, not the color of your skin.
I'm white and have a pretty liberal mother and sister living in Massachusetts, and THEY are even starting to hate this creep in the White House. Have fun in 2012 President crybaby !!

wow.... I never cease to be amazed by the infantile and ill informed attacks on Obama. The election of a black man has made some people very very crazy it seems. What words come to mind when thinking of wingnuts these days? Wacky, cuckoo, ding-a-ling, dingbat, kook, nut, screwball, weirdo harebrained, idiotic, imbecilic, insane, lunatic, mad, moronic, nonsensical, preposterous, silly, softheaded, balmy, dippy, dopey, jerky, sappy.
Posted by: Slide | Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 08:54 PM
No worries, Slide; we didn't think you had an answer other than to scream racist.
The problem for your side is that people are realizing that that's all Obama can do -- and that, in fact, he calls anyone who dares to criticize him or do something that might negatively affect his friends a "racist".
Fortunately for America, Obama and the Obama Party have so overused "racist" that it's starting to lose all intensity and meaning. People are catching on that it's merely a child throwing a tantrum.
Posted by: North Dallas Thirty | Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 09:12 PM
Guess what, "Slide" .....you're only amazed by attacks on Obama because all cult followers believe their "Messiahs" are above reproach. But you know what...your Messiah is just a human and human beings (especially arrogant ones) make mistakes. And Obama made a huge one last night....NO President should ever interfere in a legal case when he doesn't know all the facts and Obama admitted he didn't know all the facts about the Cambridge case. As a law student he should have known better then sticking his nose in and calling the police stupid. Since he knows so much about "race" In America and is determined to comment on it let's hear what Barack "I don't know all the facts but I'm gonna open my big mouth anyway" Obama thinks about the arrest of 100 Latino gang members for trying to ethnically cleanse African-Americans from the Hawaiian Gardens district of Los Angeles. Obviously not as important as a stuck-up Harvard "professor" having a run-in with a white cop but let's have the Messiah's thoughts on it....
Posted by: Jay David | Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 09:20 PM
nah, ND30, there is not a smidgen of racism in the attacks on Obama... just intellectual policy differences....
Posted by: Slide | Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 09:31 PM
Obama is the RACIST. The very idea that he would speak about the matter not knowing all the details amazes me.
He just used the oportunity to bring up racism.
It is a KNOW FACT that more blacks and hispanics commit crimes in this country. Where you live has nothing to do with who gets into crime.
How bout responsibility for your own actions.
No one "forces" anyone to hold a gun to someones head or rob someone or steal from someone.
Obama is so racist it is pathetic !!
You should look no further than all the people he has appointed, and selected to be in his cabinet. Even Nasa.
They even have to sign a paper saying they will be faithful to him and his beliefs.
GASP....So even the white folks he picked are racist ! Pitiful.

But Slide, do you think that by repeating that that somehow you "win" or something? Post when you have a point, otherwise, we get it, anybody who doesn't want to sleep with Obama is a racist. Ok, message received.
The best thing that you can say is that he only bothered to answer the question so that he could say something that would keep people from talking about his lack of ideas concerning health care. Mission accomplished, I guess. Bravo.
Posted by: Xerocky | Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 11:00 PM
The funny part is, Xerocky, that given the impending collapse of the Obama Presidency, it seems that more and more Americans, especially in the erstwhile Obama Party, become more and more racist, since they are actually criticizing Obama.

"Obama doesn't get the black community as a member of it. He sees himself as somewhere, or some[h]ow above it. They need his superior help."
Obama gets it, in a way. His encouraging blacks to embrace self-determination is an old practice, at least as old as the Reconstruction, and a cousin to the rhetorical technique used in black and Evangelical churches today to encourage people to take responsibility for their lives. In communities seeking social advancement the call has varied in tone from separatist, collectivist self-determination to the more useful encouragement that brains and character can take an individual beyond any social or physical constraint. I honestly don't think Obama, while playing *that* role of Encouraging Role Model, thought he was talking down to the African-American community.
But in his role as President, Obama's general failing seems to be thinking *everyone* needs his superior help, including "helping" people (including those who've beaten the odds of their upbringing to be financially successful) accept that a proper role of the Government is to strip wealth from those according to their ability, and redistribute it to those according to their need. This is where the furthest Left and its pawns - the truly, deperately poor, and the neurotically-guilty less-Left - parts company with the rest of the country.
This is also where the Obama administration juggernaut encounters enough friction to convert its momentum into serious heat. Its problem is that, unlike for Roosevelt in the 1930's, there are many more sharp minds, far better communication, ready sources of aggregated information, and far too much historical evidence weighing against socialist attempts to solve social problems, for the Average Joe or Jane to accept Obama Admin ideas uncritically. The proportion of informed voters has increased in time, and it's more likely a voter can figure out when a proposed solution is not in his best interest. The other significant miscalculation of the Obama Administration was believing all the elctorate would embrace (or at least tolerate) rapid social change. Most people hate chang; and they especially resent government shoving rapid change upon them, because they then feel they're not in control of the beast that's supposed to serve *their* interests. The moral correctness of imposing civil rights practices upon the country in the 1960's and 1970's has no equivalence to modern attempt to impose socialist foolishness, and voters know it.
Lastly, I was surprised Obama stepped in his Gates gaffe so boldly, and then went a concept too far by linking Sgt. Crowley's actions with discrimination. I think Obama swatted a hornet's nest on that one, and will be troubled by them for the rest of his presidency.

HE IS NOT A BLACK MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE. HE IS A HALF N HALF. I am so sick of people calling Obama a BLACK MAN. He is a half and half !!!!
H I S "M O T H E R" W A S A S "W H I T E" A S "W H I T E" C A N BE !!!
Obama being a half n' half has nothing to do whatsoever with him being qualified to be President.
He is certainly not that. I don't care if he is purple pink green white, black. He is simply unqualified.
We have an totally unqualified person in the white house.
He has no clue about what is going on. He has handed everything over to a bunch of Chicago Mobsters to figure out for him.
His administration is so crooked it would make Al Capone look like a glowing ANGEL.
He knew nothing about the situation with that man and should have not said anything. Then this whole thing would not have even been brought up.
Lesson learned....keep your mouth SHUT if you do not know what you are talking about. He was not there, you were not there, but I do understand many witnesses were there and heard it all. The truth will be told.
It is pretty damn bad when a police officer can't do his job without being screamed and hollered at for simply trying to answer a call and doing his damn job.
UNREAL...If he had not come to the mans house to answer the call that was called in, I guess the man would said that the police department does not care about his safety because he is black.
Black folks are the ones that are RACIST. They prove it every single day.
There are a few that are not. But...a very limited few ! I am very grateful for them !
Get over yourselfs people.
Obama needs to get over himself. HE IS NOT GOD !!!

"HE IS NOT A BLACK MAN ... etc."
Okay, okay, he's a half-breed. Wonder how many Democrats are going to get overjoyed about that.
From the original blog: "Otherwise he wouldn't be emphasizing individual responsibility over collective government action, as he always does."
Um ... huh?

Is expressing free speech to the police a crime these days? Is "causing a scene" illegal? If so, why?
It's amazing how many lemmings (of all stripes) who are eager to toss out the constitution and rush into a police state.
Posted by: B.R. | Friday, July 24, 2009 at 05:46 AM
You know what is funny is that all these wingnuts are screaming "tyranny" when the elected President of the United States tries to enact policy that he promised during the campaign but don't see any problem with a government agent arresting a professor in his own home because he may have said something that the government official didn't like. Odd isn't it?

Nobodys tossing the constitution. And nobody's rushing toward a police state. He should have showed hiw ID. He should have been calm and explained what was going on to the officer.
But worse, the president simply shouldn't have spoken without knowing the facts. Is that so much to ask?

Has it occurred to anyone that Gates may have been on drugs? I know I get pretty irrational when I mix drugs and alcohol!
Maybe he's NOT you typical, bottom feeding, racial flamethrower? Maybe he was coked up?
Posted by: lonetown | Friday, July 24, 2009 at 06:58 AM
"Joseph's brethren hated him and could NOT SPEAK PEACEABLY with him..." From whence you may gather that, though aggressive with their brother, they were no HYPOCRITES, and expressed their baseless hatred to his face.
Now Barry-boy wants a SCOTUS that judges with "empathy"; and what could be more "empathetic" than judging the case on the basis of knowing the defendant BUT NOT THE FACTS? This is what Barry-boy has done; he has judged, as he wishes to be judged, without knowledge but with empathy!
From whence you may gather that Barry-boy is no hypocrite; he has expressed his baseless hatred to America's face and that makes him no hypocrite--just a stupid ass!

You know what else it odd? For 8 years libtards were screaming hysterically about the lack of transparency of the Bush admin, and then Obama comes along and is even less transparent and they could give a rats ass.
You know what else it odd? When Obama was campaigning against Hillary, the left deceided that prefering her to him was "racist" and that she was a witch and her husband was also racist, but now that he's in office, she's the secratary of state and his health care looks like the one the he ridiculed her for.
You knw what else is odd? When Obama spoke about the Gates case he admitted to having a bias and not having all of the facts, yet he continued to blabber on about how stupid the police were for arresting him, when there are no witnesses who back up Gates and at least 3 that side with the cop. It's odd that Slide would leave this out of his discussion, because he problably wouln't descirbe himself as a partisan hack.
You know what's odd? That this whole Gatesgate fiasco shines a not so great light on the whole Walpin/Johnson affair, where again Obmam made a seemingly rash decision that seemed to blindly favor his known friend, who I guess that he has a bias toward? I wonder if Obama "had all the facts" when he fired Walpin? I'm guessing no, no he didn't.

One thing that Obama is incapable of understanding, as well as many in the liberal and black communities: A SONOFABITCH IS A SONOFABITCH, REGARDLESS OF RACE, CREED, COLOR OR POLITICAL PERSUASION.
Sounds like prof. Gates may be a nasty, racist, dumb sonofabitch. Important qualifications for friendship with Obama.

"You know what is funny is that all these wingnuts are screaming "tyranny" when the elected President of the United States tries to enact policy that he promised during the campaign..."
Sounds like lefty logic to me - since the president was elected, no policy of his could be tyrannical. It is left to the student, as an exercise, to point out the irrationality of this statement.
Does anyone else remember how, for 8 long years, the LLL whined that Bush never admitted he was wrong on anything? Where are they now?

Was Gates under any legal obligation to do so?
It seems funny how some "constitutionalists" are ever-ready to criticize giving up their rights ..... where are they today? Is this entirely about skin color?
Posted by: B.R. | Friday, July 24, 2009 at 10:54 AM
Obama just hurt his presidency worse than any Republican will ever be able to....he did himself 'in.' Showed his true colors; his own true racist self. The neighbor did the right thing. The policemen did the right thing. Gates is the only one who did not appreciate that the police were trying to make sure he was not a burgular by asking for his identification and he acted like an idiot...and his friend Obama backed him up and said the police acted stupidly...no, they did not. Maybe next time, they just should not respond to any call from or about this address and let the crazy professor fend for himself! He is the racist.

You know what else is odd? It is that some people so lack in sense that even if the facts contradict them they still insist that Barry Oracist is right? Or that some people who have buried their head up the messiah's behind can't actually get into an intellectual discussion with someone their answer is simply that the other party is racist, does it hurt your tiny lilttle brains to come up with a better excuse than that for yours, and BO's, utter incompetence? What's next? You lapdogs going to blame what happened with the racist Gates as Bush's fault too? You pathetic sheeple are nothing if not predictable. Remember sheeple, dissent is patriotic not just when GWB was in office but now too.

I first wrote about this on Tues and basically said that Gates was a jack arse.
Now Obama opens his uninformed mouth and inserts his foot in it.
Gates said that Crowley didn't know who he was messing with.
Perhaps Gates is the one who didn't know who he was messing with.
Check out my take on it and the link to my Tue post. Also, please stick around for more good content.
