Do you think maybe Obama is milking this have a beer together thing just a little too far with PR to try and get him off the hook for a disastrous mistake? Give me a break.
Nah, sure, they just happened to make these choices.
Red, Lite and Blue: The Beers Obama, Gates, Crowley Will Drink at White House
Well, the pick has been made and it appears that Obama went the route of individual choice: he will drink a Bud Light, Gates will have a Red Stripe and Crowley a Blue Moon. The president's press secretary Robert Gibbs announced the selections this afternoon aboard Air Force One.

I think it is pretty brilliant myself. Obama is going to come out of this smelling like roses. Oh, not to you guys of course, but you already hate him with a seething passion it makes no difference.
RED LIGHT and BLUE
gotta love it

"I think it is pretty brilliant myself. Obama is going to come out of this smelling like roses."
Actually, "brilliant" would have been not commenting at all. Unfortunately, since it looks like the Obamamessiah scripted the whole thing, including the question and his answer, it just makes it more obvious what a complete and total racist he is.
Not to people like Slide, though, who think anyone who criticizes Obama is a racist.

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if O goes all Putin on the officer, and laces his drink with polonium. Communists all share the same playbook.
Posted by: O-NO | Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 05:43 PM
The whole thing is silly and is another example of the fact that Obama doesn't know how to act presidential or where to draw the line, he sees everything in terms of a campaign photo opp.
Posted by: anon | Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 05:45 PM
Well Red Stripe is foreign. I remember seeing foreign beers aren't to be kept at 1600.
A Blue Moon isn't my favorite but it's ok as long as no #$%@ lemon slice is put in it.
for Obama milk, milking it for all possible PR

Heather MacDonald: Obama's ignorant attack on cops
July 29, 2009
"No government welfare program has come close to effective policing in reviving inner-city neighborhoods. President Obama's ignorant attack on the police during his July 22 press conference for picking up blacks and Hispanics "more frequently and often time for no cause" jeopardizes the public-safety gains in every city where the police have brought crime down since the early 1990s."

Bud Light doesn't even qualify as beer - it's just bottled water with food coloring.
Red Stripe is from Jamaica - drinkable but not great.
I've never tried Blue Moon.

That is the part of the equation that is unmentionable: the crime rate, who commits crimes and where they are committed.
If Group X factually commits a hugely disproportionate share of Y crime, then it would be stupid of police to focus their attentions on Group Z instead of Group X. This is likely going to result in members of Group X being inconvenienced more frequently, but the alternative is to stop trying to fight crimes committed by Group X and to watch idly by while crimes by Group X skyrocket.
What the liberal PC folks want is for police to be 100% correct all the time, they never want anyone, especially a member of Group X to be questioned or stopped unless there is surety of guilt....they want a perfect utopia where all crime is solved without inconveniencing anyone who isn't a criminal. But, like every other liberal belief and desire, it is totally unrealistic out in the real world.

Barry Should be drinking Butt Monkey Ale
...yep...that's a real beer

Crowley is the only one who chose an American owned beer, it should be noted.

"Obama is going to come out of this smelling like roses."
By Roses you mean Axl Rose's armpits after a gig, right?
I've never seen a president drink a beer in front of a teleprompter before, so he'll have to improvise conversation which isn't a strong suit of his, let's face it, and frankly he comes across as a white wine type of guy if you ask me.
If I've ever been sure of one thing it's this: THIS MEETING WILL BE AWKWARD. Period, end of story. Obama's not a "I want to have a beer with that guy" type. Bush, he was a beer guy. Obama? Come on.

Looks like you're as tone-deaf as your Obamessiah. Do you liberals EVER get tired of spinning and carrying water for this socialist shitstain?????
Bud Light is NOT beer. Blue Moon is pretty craptastic, but at least it's beer. Red Stripe I can take or leave (preferably leave). Crowley is probably a "for real" beer drinker; I'd bet you a month's pay that Obambi and Gates haven't had a six pack between them in the last year.

"Do you liberals EVER get tired of spinning and carrying water for this socialist shitstain?????"
I will be tireless in my efforts to support this President. You can call it spinning if you want I could care less. You guys had your chance for eight years and blew it big time. GWB will go down as one of worst President's in history and you all goosestepped right along. It is such a relief to have Obama occupy the White House. Makes me proud to be an American. I think a lot of other Americans feel the same way. The fact that you don't concerns me not a twit.
Posted by: Slide | Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 07:52 PM
OMG, a President that drinks a LITE BEER????
[headdesk]
Well, I do suppose that it reflects his metrosexual, liberal, ephemeral and flavorless personality...
Gawd. Lite beer.
I can't show my face in public as an American again until this stain has been blotted from our collective honor...
Posted by: Kat | Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 08:08 PM
"I will be tireless in my efforts to support this President."
No surprise; the only thing Obama could do wrong in your eyes would be to turn white, and the odds of that happening are pretty minimal.
You can't be really said to be spinning, Slide; that would indicate that you actually knew Obama was doing something wrong. What your commenting here has made abundantly clear is that you really don't care about whether or not something is legal or illegal, moral or immoral, principled or unprincipled, as long as Obama does it.
Posted by: North Dallas Thirty | Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 08:20 PM
No metrosexual worth his salt would be caught dead drinking Bud or Bud Light! Or, maybe in a nod to ya know, being the PRESIDENT, he wouldn't try to turn it into some kind of weirdo branding exercise and just give everyone a beer in a frosty glass and leave the MSM to investigate the details...
I gotta say though I do like Red Stripe.
Posted by: anon | Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 08:27 PM
Crowley will bring a six pack of http://www.arrogantbastard.com Arrogant Bastard Ale
or 2 subpoenas. 1 for Gates for defamation of character and 1 for Obama for impersonating a president.

What do bet Crowley doesn't show up? I have yet to see a quote from him agreeing to come.

Are tax payer having to pay for these 3 beers, transportation, and lodging? I bet it will cost over $70,000 to do this drink a beer with obama thing.

Let's hope the photos look less stupid than the ones of Obama and Biden trying to act like ordinary Joes having cheeseburgers.

"will be tireless in my efforts to support this President. You can call it spinning if you want I could care less. You guys had your chance for eight years and blew it big time."
Iraq is no longer a dictatorship, it's a functioning democracy with 100% more potential than it had before Bush came in. We were faced with decisions, we could only go after Afghanistan and further disrupt Pakistan pushing it closer to the brink of collapse, or we could take care of Saddam while keeping Afghanistan under control. That's what we (the United States and our allies) did.The sanctions were killing innocent children, I don't recall liberals protesting that. The food for oil scam was making a mockery of the peace process, and enforcing the no fly zone was a de facto undeclared war. Bush solved that. It didn't go well at first. Rumsfeld thought wrongly about how many troops we needed on the ground. When Bush realized that something needed to be done, he in an act of decisive leadership fired Rumsfeld and then ordered the surge. It worked. Obama said it would cause more death and destruction. He was wrong. And what did "all of you" do? You march(ed) in lockstep behind someone who was wrong then, and who continues to be wrong.
Wrong about the protests in Iran, wrong about Honduras, wrong about our place in the world.

shunha, I'm with you on this, don't think a invite to the WH for quality time is a sensible way to damage control in the Obama-Gates racial profiling demeanor. Clearly, Officer Crowley was trying to do his job while Professor Gates reacted, then back up had to be called in.
Colin Powell was interviewed on Larry King the other evening, he is also friends with Gates and stated Gates should have cooperated.
Save our tax dollars and continue watching Obama closely, as Glenn Beck puts it, he believes Obama to have "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture." Michelle Malkin sums up this incident as Obama being a "Racial Opportunist", her new book, 'Culture of Corruption' has carefully been researched.

Actually Bud Light is now owned by a Belgian company InBev, the only American beer is Blue Moon brewed by Coors.

Yeah, Spin 'n Slide, I have NO DOUBT that you will continue to follow this stupid, economically ignorant, historically-challenged (HIROHITO surrendered Japan to MacArthur?!?!?!?!? What a FUCKWIT!), socialist/Marxist "community organizer" down the toilet, yelling all the way down that "WE'RE RIGHT!" Have fun with that.
W the worst President? Unfortunately, in your ideologically-blinkered stupidity, you missed the fact that us CONSERVATIVES had major problems with W. In 8 years, he got exactly 2 1/2 things right - taxes, free trade and (he only gets half credit, because it took him too long to get the Surge going) the GWoT. WE killed the Harriet Meirs nomination. WE killed "comprehensive immigration reform." WE shouted and complained about his deficit spending. But, even with all of that, he will be remembered, historically, as a MUCH better president than the Peanut Farmer.
As for President Urkel? He is living proof that, no matter how incompetent Carter was, you idiot liberals can find someone worse. By the way, how does Urkel's bag taste, you socialist-fellating idiot?

Obama is a smart politician. Bud Light is now the #1 best selling beer in America. Bud regular is #2. Bud Light is beer flavored water. Nice and refreshing. Good summertime drink. You can drink a lot of it and feel nothing but a slight buzz. Reminds me of some light pilsner in Europe. I resisted it for years but recently found out it is the #1 best selling beer in America. There has to be a reason. Interesting that none of the people posting here like it. Obama is smart and knows the taste of the common man.
Posted by: joeb | Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 04:49 PM
Can there be any situation that President Obama doesn't intelligently and skillfully take advantage to charm the world? This must be HUGELY frustrating to the Obama haters here. I, like many Americans, thought Bush was kinda charming and down to earth. And of course that he was an unintelligent, incurious, and demagogic man who was the worst President ever. What a contrast!

Can there be any situation that President Obama doesn't intelligently and skillfully take advantage to charm the world?
Actually, his "intelligent" and "skillful" meeting wouldn't have been needed had he done the simplest thing, which was to keep his mouth shut when he didn't know all the facts.
But as it turns out, the racist Obama scripted the answer, which means he deliberately acted in a manner that turned out to be utterly stupid. Did he really think that supporting his fellow racist Gates without knowing all the facts and attacking a white cop would turn out well?

It's OK, Wally. We know that you have to protect your token rather than to admit that voting on the basis of skin color wasn't a good idea.
But most Americans have figured out by now that Barack Obama has a bad habit of pissing down your back and claiming that it's raining. Had you raised your black child Obama a bit better, he might be a responsible adult, but when you allow a child to lie, cheat, and steal and make excuses based on their skin color, you end up with someone like Obama.
Don't think that Wally does this accidentally, though. It's purely a malicious decision, made to ensure that black people stay infantile and dependent on liberal whites for handouts. Wally and his racist plantation owners know that uneducated, brainwashed people are incapable of doing anything much other than what you tell them, which is why they adamantly oppose educational standards for black children and anything that would prevent their puppets from getting into higher positions, such as tests and educational requirements.
