Donald Douglas takes a look at the ramifications involved with Obama's strategy as regards Russia. In a word - weak. Welcome Back Carter, indeed!
It's unfortunate, but from my perspective the current rage for a realist orientation to foreign affairs is simply a cover for those inclined to pacifist isolationism (with sprinklings of Israel-bashing for good measure). This new realism is adopted to "provide academic cover to a postmodern epistemology of appeasement and weakness."

Sadly for us, it appears that Obama’s poker skills are in the same league with his bowling and girly-style baseball throw.
Russia recieved much of what it wants before Obama even landed, i.e. council with NATO, so how would anybody expect Barack to gain advantage? Meanwhile, the Kremlin has failed even to comply with the terms of the truce signed with Georgia last year- continuing to do pretty much as it pleases.
I don’t see any reason to be doing deals with the Russians- they have nothing to offer the United States, IMO.

The Russians are looking at the weak horse and remarking how easy it will be to lead him to the slaughter house.

Russia's been calling America's bluff, and I applaud them for it. If we're too weak to hold them to our agreements, we deserve to have them walk all over us and everything. Unfortunately seeing as it's been going on for years I don't expect a change in our approach to foreign policy. And after watching the video at http://www.newsy.com/videos/obama_s_nuclear_pipe_dream I'm even more convinced that we deserve whatever Russia decides to throw our way.
