Congressman Pete Hoekstra was on with Mark Levin - brief audio here. It seems the whole CIA misled Congress story is a non-story and political ploy. There was no briefing, as there was no program. Just more time wasting from some histrionic Democrats in Congress. Who would have guessed?

I think we need a Drudge siren to highlight the delicious irony of Pete Hoekstra, the man who accused the CIA of lying to him on several occasions, calling the possibility of the CIA lying to the Democrats, absurd.

"A top Republican lawmaker is accusing employees at the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency of blocking investigations into the downing of a missionary plane in Peru that killed two Americans in 2001."

I wonder what Hoekstra is tweeting

Hoekstra calls 'em like he sees 'em. When Congress was lied to, in 2001, by one member of the CIA, he rightfully called him on it.
This time, there was no need to brief Congress; the libs' charge they were deceived about a program that never happened is solely motivated by their desire to politically cover Pelosi's tightly stretched hide after she lied about being lied to by the CIA and not briefed about on waterboarding.

What is this fetish of the CIA being truthful? Bizarre. These guys overthrew Mohammed Mossadegh, Jacobo Arbenz, and Patrice Lumumba on behalf of oil and banana companies and lied about it for 45 years. CIA agents supported death squads in Central America and ... lied about it for 25 years. They set up drug sales to pay for weapons and ... lied about it for 30 years.
You may like the CIA's strange mission of destablizing countries ruled by critics of the U.S., but how do you figure it is not the biggest institutional liar (along with Enron) in the history of the United States? Get over it. They are spies. They sneak around and lie, ESPECIALLY to their overseers in the U.S. Congress and the public. Sheesh.

it was the CIA Director that told the committee that they weren't notified of programs that they should have been notified of. He is ordering a review now at the CIA to see why Congress wasn't notified.

Slide: Go to the link in the post and then to the link to the Newsweek article under "never happened." You do not quite have the facts straight.

What are you talking about Sgt Tim. I said that Panetta ordered a review at the CIA to see why Congress wasn't notified about the program. You said I don't have my facts straight but then point me to a link that says,
"CIA Director Leon Panetta has ordered an internal inquiry into the agency's handling of a contentious and still highly classified intelligence program that has caused a heated dispute between the CIA and Democrats on the House intelligence committee. The move by Panetta appears to be an implicit acknowledgment by the agency that it should have disclosed information about the post-9/11 secret program to Congress much earlier than it did."
Sounds pretty much exactly what I said.

"You may like the CIA's strange mission of destablizing countries ruled by critics of the U.S., "
To me, describing one as a "critic" conjures up images of Siskel and Ebert, not Noriega, Kim Jong-il, Castro, Pol Pot, etc. Quit the cute schtick, its starting to wear thin.

More sauce for the goose ...
"CIA and congressional officials have refused to describe the nature of the covert program, but insisted it is not connected to the CIA's use of controversial "enhanced" interrogation techniques."
