I've been as objective as possible on Palin, insisting the jury that matters is a long way out. Because it is. But these comments from a professional Republican to the LA Times highlight the real problem for the GOP. They honestly think they know better, but the base is completely unimpressed by what we've been seeing. They can forget any broad coalition if the base doesn't show up. And the GOP establishment is incapable of turning it out due to attitudes precisely like this.
"People at the grass roots see a charismatic personality who is popular with other people at the grass roots. But their horizon only goes so far as people who think like them," said Mike Murphy. The veteran GOP ad man eviscerated Palin -- a "political train wreck," "an awful choice" for vice president, her resignation an "astonishing self-immolation" -- in a column published Thursday in the New York Daily News.
"Professional operatives keep their eye on a broader horizon and understand, without independents and swing voters, she can't win," Murphy said. "She's a stone-cold loser in a general election."
There's good news and bad news in the wisdom above. The bad news is the GOP will be out of power for years. The good news is, when it comes back, the ass quoted above will be out of a job.

mark.... economic forecasts in the midst of a recession are never very precise. Don't make me pull up the Bush economic forecasts and how "accurate" they were year after year. And to compare the very hazy realm of economic forecasting with what is to be expected when you invade a sovereign nation is on a whole other level now isn't it?

Guess that is what Limbaugh meant when he said he hoped Obama would fail.
Guess you are wrong on that as well. Obama and his stimulus are not failing. He said so himself over the weekend. It's working as planned. That is what Limbaugh and every thinking person could see. His plan needed to fail for America to succeed.
How do you categorize 9.5% (and skyrocketing) unemployment as success? How about a $2 trillion deficit? This is epic fail, slide. But Obama says things are proceeding per plan. So by his own interpretation, he's succeeding. Meanwhile, the economy swirls the bowl. But it's Bush's fault, I know.

hey, North Dallas, you keep saying I'm racist but you don't really have a clue. To educate you a bit let me show you racism. This was posted on one of your little right wing blogs (Free Republic). And some on the right wonder why they are perceived as racists. What scum. Do you post over there ND30 by any chance?
http://www.vancouversun.com/entertainment/Conservative+Free+Republic+blog+free+speech+flap+after+racial+slurs+directed+Obama+children/1782375/story.html
"A typical street whore." "A bunch of ghetto thugs." "Ghetto street trash." "Wonder when she will get her first abortion."
These are a small selection of some of the racially-charged comments posted to the conservative 'Free Republic' blog Thursday, aimed at U.S. President Barack Obama's 11-year-old daughter Malia after she was photographed wearing a t-shirt with a peace sign on the front.
"Could you imagine what world leaders must be thinking seeing this kind of street trash and that we paid for this kind of street ghetto trash to go over there?" wrote one commenter.
"They make me sick .... The whole family... mammy, pappy, the free loadin' mammy-in-law, the misguided chillin', and especially 'lil cuz... This is not the America I want representin' my peeps," wrote another.
Such was the onslaught of derision on the site that the person who originally complained about the slurs, a Kristin N., claims only one comment in the first hundred posted actually criticized the remarks as inappropriate.
"I agree Jim," wrote commenter, by the nickname NoobRep. "The kids didn't pick their commie pinko pansy of a father. Nor did they choose to be put into the spotlight. But Obama/Soetoro is fair game and so is his witch of a wife."
"Poor kids. I hope they're not 'punished with a baby'," wrote another. "Hopefully they won't deal cocaine like the Kenyan."
"DIRTBAGS! All of them. Our [White House] is now a joke to the rest of the world. We have no respect and this is not going to turn out well, mark my words. We will be hit, and much worse than last time. We are now seen as weak and vulnerable. Ghetto and Chicago thugs have taken over."
The thread was accompanied by a photo of Michelle Obama speaking to Malia that featured the caption, "To entertain her daughter, Michelle Obama loves to make monkey sounds."

Did you miss something today, Slide?
"It gets worse, though. Chris Parry, it appears, has advocated on his Daily Kos blog any number of egregious offenses, among them: posting hate speech on sites like Free Republic and blaming it on conservatives. Parry posted under the name "hollywoodoz" on Daily Kos, where his signature was "Fool me once, I'll punch you in the fucking head." Parry outed himself as hollywoodoz here, where he discloses the company he helped start. In essence: Parry, the journalist, found his story right where he'd been circling it for a very long time, and reported it as news. Sigh."

But again, this is a tactic with a long and storied history among the left; if you can't find the story, create it.

Or just plain lie about it.
"Parents of the Jena Six say they heard Barker was hurling racial epithets, but Barker's parents insist he did nothing to provoke the beating.....
At the hearing, attorneys representing the five men read a statement expressing sympathy to the Barkers and acknowledging that Justin Barker did not use a racial slur. They also apologized to the residents of Jena for the uproar caused by the case."

And how about the Duke lacrosse "rape" case, again, where an Obama Party liberal and Barack Obama supporter lied to prosecute white males illegally?

so basically, don't believe anything obam says about the economy? way ahead of you big guy.
the LARGEST difference between obama and cheney?
one's popularity migth change booksales, the other's 'popularity' might doom his party.
forgive me if I don't start throwing flowers to a guy who projected 8% unemployment, when it crosses 10%.
you theory of the inability to predict only holds true if there were others who failed to predict the reality. not the case.

As bad as it seems for the Republicans now, there really isn't much else to do besides quit for a while. Perhaps Obama will be a 2 term president. Perhaps we won't recognize the United States when were done. But we'll still know what we think, and the Democrats will stand for absolutely nothing.
so go ahead, tear at the woman. that's what liberals do.

"seems like the hopes of the right rests on economic disaster. Guess that is what Limbaugh meant when he said he hoped Obama would fail. Must be sad having to pray for bad things to happen all the time."
Who needs prayer? The way Obama is spending, what else could the outcome be? Of course it won't work, how can it? Spend your way out of a hole?
When has it ever worked?

You must have been asleep when they taught about FDR, the New Deal, and WWII mobilization in history class.

Actually, what helped far more was the fact that, following World War II, the United States was the only major industrial power that had not suffered any damage during the war, and thus had no competition. It's easy to dig your way out of a deficit when you're a virtual monopoly on goods and services.
Had even one of the other industrialized powers survived unscathed, US history would look far different than it did today.

"Somehow when Bush was in power I don't remember all these negative comments about him from your side of the aisle."
That is because you are an intellectually dishonest idiot. Google up "Jorge Arbusto" to see just how long ago the Conservatives were upset with Bush. Just because we chose Bush over a megalomaniac nutcase with delusions of adequacy (Gore) and an egotistical backstabbing shitstain (Kerry) doesn't mean that Bush was all that great. He was just the better option.
So now that you've proven that you're nothing but a blithering idiot, what else would you like to do?

You mean like when James Carville was about to unleash another round of attacks on Bush when the towers were hit? Oh yes libs have ALWAYS been respectful.
But I see why you like the Rockefeller GOP so much: easy marks, nothing else. Colin Powell can't decide what government should be, hell if I were you (perish the thought ASAP) I'd want him at the head of the GOP too!

I remember Mike Murphy on Joe's morning show during the election . He hates the GOP positions that the base loves. He is a GOP advisor that likes Democrats positions. So he is a RINO. Not a GOP or conservative. His talking points were identical to the liberals so he is a liberal.
Mike Mutphy is sucking up to liverals to be liked and typical attitude of a weak person.
Palin is typical western libertarian and though she is a social conservative she does not belive in mandating those ideas by fiat but rather persuade.
Libeals seem to hate religion and the attacks that happened on her after the announcemnt she was the VP pick on her supposed creatonist beliefs were evidence of that hate. Liberal are anti American or Blame America first. They hate the reliogous an think those who believ are stupid.

"--- You must have been asleep when they taught about FDR, the New Deal, and WWII mobilization in history class. ---"
Our involvement was a gamble by the egomaniac socialist, FDR... to ensnare us in a European war which we would have had no interest in fighting. So he backed Japan into a corner, and thence came Admiral Nagumo and his fleet of six aircraft carriers... the rest being well-known history.
Obama and his controllers might have similar plans with the evolving Russian/Chinese/Iranian/North Korean/Venezuelan axis... only this time, when the dust settles from WWIII or whatever we choose to call it... we'll likely be the ones digging out of radioactive ruins, as Red China cements her next 100 years of glory.
