Can you name ten technologies from the Apollo-era that are still relevant today? Computer World can. Click on the numbered boxes to go through them. Pretty cool. It was common knowledge at the time that one the the greatest side benefits of the Space program was all the new tech it generated, plenty of which we still use today.

One of the best technologies from the Appalling Era was the use of Propaganda, still in use today.
It wasn't the Space Program or any Government Agency that introduced the world to most of today's advanced technology... Rather, it has been private risk and investment initiatives responding to perceived and real market needs. Billions of dollars for memory foam, hand vacs and velcro? Heh. One begins to understand why the USSR collapsed.

Freeze Drying was a WII technology.
I don't know how reliable or credible this is.
