Gee, it even sounds Stalin-esque. Is there no amount of our money he won't spend to try and remain popular? Maybe he'll form a community for bloggers next and we can all move into these little side-by-side shacks. Wouldn't that be special? Biden announcing? What could go wrong?
Today in Perrysburg, Ohio, Vice President Biden will announce the creation of the White House Council on Automotive Communities and Workers, which will be established by Executive Order to be signed by the President today. Larry Summers and Secretary Solis will chair the Council, and Dr. Ed Montgomery will serve as its executive director. From the draft Executive Order: 'Unemployment in the automotive sector in towns and cities across the country has reached levels not seen in decades, with resulting increases in poverty and high home foreclosure rates. The purpose of this order is to establish a coordinated Federal response to issues that particularly impact automotive communities and workers and to ensure that Federal programs and policies address and take into account these concerns.

In other news, French President Sarkozy says "No" to Burqas in France.
Good to see that the French have a sense of national manhood about them to stand up to Islamism, that Obama seems to be lacking in spades. Or worse, actively aiding and abetting his Islamist brethren.

I find it amazing that so many people buy into the government propaganda. While admitting a few problems (automotive industry, foreclosures), the only government solution is to establish a new agency or council or regulatory agency to solve the problem. No actions are outlined in detail and only flowery words are used to describe what the government will do. And the final solution is never defined.
Why is that? I think it's because the government knows that it will fail if given an actual target and it is better never to define what outcome of a program. It's lawyers abusing language, marketers with MBAs writing flowery speeches that say nothing, and charismatic media-approved speakers reading word for word content-free platitudes.
And the spectacle only costs us several trillion dollars!

Inordinately biasing stimulus money towards NOW's anti-male jobs agenda didn't help.

It would be nice if Obama would show the same level of concern for us taxpayers.

Trillions of dollars, folks. Trillions. Do we have any notion of exactly how much a trillion is?
That's 1 followed by twelve zeroes.
Or another way of looking at it - a guy is making $100,000 per year (a typical east coast income).
For him to make $1T... he would have to work for about 10,000,000 years.
Or if you earned $1 per second, it would take you 31,546 years.
And we in upwards of $20T in debt, along with another $70T worth of bad credit default swaps that could go sour...?
AND at some point, We, the Taxpayers will be liable for all of this "government largess"?
Hmmm.
