Maxine Waters has issued a statement after shoving David Obey on the House floor today.
UPDATED: Waters spokesman Michael Briggs called to say that the center -- which provides a wide array of health care, automotive, GED and job preparedness training programs -- was named after Waters before she entered the House by LA school officials.
Really? Then why does she take credit for "creating" it while in the House as one of the reasons for her remaining there in an interview?
I have successfully authored, and have signed into law in California, the first child abuse prevention legislation, the divestment of funds from businesses doing business in South Africa that helped to dismantle apartheid, changed the insurance laws for women to cover mastectomies, expanded and revitalized the California Science Center and created the Maxine Waters Employment Preparation Center. I have served in the leadership of the Assembly, served in the leadership of the House of Representatives as chief deputy whip, and when the Democrats won the majority in Congress, I became the chair of the sub-committee on housing and community opportunity.
Originally founded in 1966 as the Watts Skills Center, the facility provides South Central L.A. residents with educational and vocational training. The Center was renamed in her honor.
The center was renamed in 1989 a year before she entered Congress, but in her wiki, she takes credit for "founding" it. It looks like she's splitting hairs to send money to a "monument to me" project. She was in the CA State Assembly when it was renamed, preparing to run for Congress. In 2005, she was listed as one of the 13 "most corrupt" in Congress by CREW.
Originally established in 1966 as the Watts Skills Center, the center was renamed in 1989 after Congresswoman Maxine Waters by the LAUSD Board of Education.

That's funny, politico has it under the category of Republicans. Next, the housing projects near the center have the highest unemployment in the area, and the center supposedly helps with employment. Not doing too well.

look, obey turned her down for a tiny million dollar earmark.
Imagine being waters, watching murtha et al. rake in the bucks, and suddenly the white guy who has been signing on with everyone elses pet projects, says he can't swing a million.
they just spent 787 billion as a stimulus, are going to pull a budget deficit near 2 trillion, and obey tells waters, in a roomful of 'drunks', "you have had enough to drink"?
