Sweden takes over the EU presidency on July 1. Three real gems in this interview with Sweden's PM. The EU is broke. They're worried about passing massive debt onto future generations. Sound familiar? And why no sanctions for Iran? Because if they invoke sanctions he's concerned Iran might not listen to the Iranian people in the streets right now if they do that. Assuming he doesn't have the IQ of a chocolate bar, that has to be the most craven thing I've ever seen attributed to a politician.
These are the moralists who condemned former President Bush. Guantanamo: an outrage. Shooting women and, according to a recent report, now beating children and old people without reservation? That's not so bad.
STOCKHOLM, June 25 (Reuters) - Sweden's prime minister said on Thursday he was deeply worried by the soaring public debt across Europe, calling for leaders to map out deficit-fighting plans during his upcoming EU presidency.
Sweden takes over the six-month EU presidency on July 1.
"I'm deeply worried, because the history in Europe was that we were highly indebted," Reinfeldt said. "And that is not sustainable long-term because it is sending the invoices to future generations."
In an interview with Reuters, Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt also said the EU should not consider sanctions against Iran at this stage and he urged the swift confirmation of a second term for the president of the European Commission.
"My worry is that talk of sanctions, talk of a tougher line might just be the start of an excuse for the Iranian leadership not to listen in to what is now being said by the Iranian people," Reinfeldt said. (Reporting by Niklas Pollard and Johan Sennero; Editing by Jon Hemming)

"-- These are the moralists who condemned former President Bush. Guantanamo: an outrage. Shooting women and, according to a recent report, now beating children and old people without reservation? That's not so bad. --"
See, funny story Dan. Back in 2003, there was this little thing Bush liked to brag about called the "Coalition of the Willing", that he built up by suckering in foreign countries to engage in a hollow, failed war. Crying WMD while you invade the wrong country and you suck EU nationals into island prisons to torture them to death... all that tends to ruffle some feathers.
And while it's comforting to know that Dan still holds the US up to such lofty ethical standards as he does Iran, it's also a bit ironic to see him decrying Iran for using the same brutish and murderous tactics employed by those Blackwater Security Guards and private military contractors hired by his all time favorite former administration.
It's a bit silly to cry "hypocrite" now, Dan. You're so deep into it, you've got no credibility left to burn.

You truly are a disgusting piece of work, "IslamoLlama".

Ah, but you see, Islamo, what's REALLY funny is that the same EU countries that are whining about "torturing innocent prisoners" are the ones who are refusing to take those same prisoners.
"There were warning signs during Obama’s first European tour that the idea of closing Gitmo and transferring the detainees to other countries wouldn’t fly. For all of Obama’s star status with ordinary Europeans, their leaders were nearly unanimous in refusing to accept any of the Gitmo detainees. France was the sole exception in agreeing to allow one detainee on to its soil. That’s right, one."

Meanwhile, the reason so many EU countries and the UN were against the invasion of Iraq is very simple; they didn't want their kickbacks cut off.

If you weren't a hopeless anti-American bigot, you might actually investigate and find these facts out, Islamo. But fortunately for your Obama Party, what with its Weather Underground roots and behavior, anti-Americanism is always right in the eyes of its puppets like you.

And don't worry, Rob. IslamoLlama and the other Axelrod-paid Obama Party trolls are in desperate straits today, given that their blundering Messiah last night admitted that he wouldn't stay within the limits of the public plan he intends to force on the rest of us for his own family.

Your brave American Heroes, the Republicans threw a screeching hissy fit over the idea that the American prison system might contain someone George Bush labeled a terrorist. Your politicians are a freak'n joke.
"-- IslamoLlama and the other Axelrod-paid Obama Party trolls are in desperate straits today, given that their blundering Messiah last night admitted that he wouldn't stay within the limits of the public plan he intends to force on the rest of us for his own family. --"
Ah, the sweet ramblings of the stupid. It's a public option, NDT. That means you have the "option" of joining it. No one would force you to take part any more than you are forced to get on Medicare or accept a Social Security check.
Do you have private health insurance, NDT? Would you be willing to promise that you wouldn’t seek such extraordinary help for your wife or daughters if they became sick and the private plan you pay for limited the tests or treatment they can get?
It's a stupid question on its face. Would you stand around with your thumb up your ass if any insurance you've been provided fell short of your needs?
Of course, it does demonstrate the callous ignorance and greedy stupidity of the GOP. For those 50 million US citizens with no insurance, it's not a question of whether you accept suboptimal care. You don't get any care at all. For the 250 million other Americans who receive care only at the casual whim of their private insurers, it's a cold comfort to know that you can get the shaft from private industry instead of the public trust.

"No one would force you to take part any more than you are forced to get on Medicare or accept a Social Security check."
So in otherwords you no longer have to have medicare and fica taken from your pay check, just opt out and when the tax bill comes for your 1/2 of employer provided insurance (wow, remember how repugnant and stupid that was when McCain proposed it?) Anyway....just don't pay for any of it sice no one is forcing you.

The numbers go up every day, 50 million today, 60 million tomorrow.

Of course there are loads of polls that say conservatives give more to charity than liberals....so maybe not so greedy. I do wish someone would come up with a believable number of "uninsured". There's such a wide gap between 28-50 million. Hard to count those fence jumpers I guess. Over thirty years in the EMS businessput me in contact with bunches of sick and injured and health care providers/facilities. Never saw anyone refused care, "NO" care, especially in an emergency....never. Saw loads of abuses though and just wait until you tax payers start paying for all the "emergency" rides to the mall....little known secret. In fairness I guess some states allow ambbulance service to drop patients on the street if they cant pay. Texas apparently allows that.

"all that tends to ruffle some feathers"
the implication of the eu not assisting because of past interactions with the US is absurd.
they eu didn't go along with obama's plan for Afghanistan because of bush?
woudln't that provide that they see no difference between bush and obama?
the coalition of the willing was a product of eu leaders going 'against' their publics wishes. Taht turned out badly for tony blair, right?

We are allied with the Iranian reformers. The same government that is oppressing them is destabilizing the world and pushing nuclear war. Getting rid of or at least modifying the rule of the Mullahs helps the Iranians and helps the rest of the world.

"-- Anyway....just don't pay for any of it sice no one is forcing you. --"
Willie, there's a lot of government services you pay for that you don't have to use. Don't get in a car and you still pay for the roads. Don't get on a plane and you still pay for the FAA. Don't watch TV and you still front the money for the FCC. Grow your own food and you're still paying for the FDA. Here's a popular one - send your kid to private school. You're still paying for everyone else's public education. Die before 65 and you'll never see a dime of Social Security. Welcome to the real world.
The concern was that Obama's public option program was going to "force" a person to accept inferior treatment that they could get from private plans. There's nothing stopping an individual from getting a private plan.

If you don't believe the census report, I don't know what to tell you. Perhaps you are referring to the fact that the number of uninsured Americans is rising? I suppose that's another reason to be extra unconcerned.
But it's just another example of willful ignorance and greedy stupidity, when you scoff at data compiled under a GOP Administration because it doesn't fit your fairyland worldview.

"Your brave American Heroes, the Republicans threw a screeching hissy fit over the idea that the American prison system might contain someone George Bush labeled a terrorist."
Wrong again, Obama puppet.
"On Wednesday, Obama was dealt another blow when the U.S. Senate passed a measure that would prevent detainees at Guantanamo Bay from being transferred to the United States for now.
The measure passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in a 90-6 vote. A similar amendment has already passed the House. It was attached to a supplemental war funding bill.
Following in the steps of House Democrats, Senate Democrats rejected on Tuesday the administration's request for $80 million to close the Guantanamo facility. They instead asked that President Obama first submit a plan spelling out what the administration will do with the prisoners when it closes the prison."
Let's see; given that there are 40 Republicans and 59 Obama Party members in the Senate, even given that all 40 Republicans voted against the request, that would still require 50 Obama Party members to do the same to get to 90-6.
In short, more Obama Party members "threw screeching hissy fits" than did Republicans.
For good reasons.
"FBI Director Robert Mueller told members of Congress earlier Wednesday that he is concerned about the potential dangers that may result from the release of detainees in the United States.
In response to a question from Texas Rep. Lamar Smith, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, Mueller said he is concerned about the potential for fundraising to support terrorist groups and the radicalization of others, as well as the potential for attacks within the country.
Mueller also said that while he is not concerned about dangerous terrorists escaping from maximum security federal prisons, he is concerned about the potential of activities being directed from within prison walls, and he cited such actions by dangerous gang members."
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/05/20/senate.guantanamo/index.html?iref=newssearch
"Do you have private health insurance, NDT? Would you be willing to promise that you wouldn’t seek such extraordinary help for your wife or daughters if they became sick and the private plan you pay for limited the tests or treatment they can get?"
Of course not. But unlike Obama, I'm not trying to ban other people from having other choices.
"For those 50 million US citizens with no insurance, it's not a question of whether you accept suboptimal care. You don't get any care at all."
Wrong. If they got no care at all, as you whine, then hospitals and medical providers wouldn't have massive cost burdens from providing care to the uninsured.
So let's see. You don't know the difference between health insurance and health care. You don't know that your own party voted against bringing Gitmo detainees to the United States. All you know is that Obama is always right and that anyone who opposes him is a racist.
Posted by: North Dallas Thirty | Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 06:06 PM
"-- FBI Director Robert Mueller told members of Congress earlier Wednesday that he is concerned about the potential dangers that may result from the release of detainees in the United States. --"
And nobody knows more about terrorism than Director "Oops, 9/11" Mueller. Perhaps we can get some tips on national security from George Tenet next.
"-- The measure passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in a 90-6 vote. --"
A measure put forward by the GOP caucus. Hey, I'll be the first to admit the Dems got rolled on this. But it was the Republicans on every talk show that would book them whining about how a Gitmo detainee in a US prison was going to cause the next 9/11.
No point in ducking and hiding now, NDT. This is your party's hissy fit. Own it. Unless you're ashamed to admit that the likes of Lindsey Graham, Failed Presidential Candidate John McCain, and Eric Cantor were pushing hard to protect us from incarcerated foreigners.
"-- Of course not. But unlike Obama, I'm not trying to ban other people from having other choices. --"
And here the bullshit shines through. There is nothing in the legislation to ban private insurance. But you'll keep peddling lies, because - let's face it - you're on the Rush Limbaugh "Hope Obama Fails" bandwagon.
"-- Wrong. If they got no care at all, as you whine, then hospitals and medical providers wouldn't have massive cost burdens from providing care to the uninsured. --"
Try to get chemotherapy from an emergency room, NDT. Or heart medicine. Or insulin. Or treatment for any number of other chronic conditions. One of the major appeals of universal coverage would be to get patients OUT of the emergency room and IN to a private practice physician's office.
Because when an individual does show up on the stretcher in an emergency room, it's because he or she is in need of the expensive kind of care most private insurance companies implemented high co-pays and deductibles to avoid paying. Issues that could be solved with flu shots and bed rest start needing IVs and defibrillators.
But screw the doctors and screw the patients, because NDT has to protect an threatened private insurance practice that will as soon label him a "pre-existing condition" as bother to front payment.

Money floods out of Iran as election crisis continues
Millions of pounds in private wealth has begun flooding out of Iran in the wake of mass demonstrations which have paralysed commercial life after the disputed re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

There's no actual evidence of fraud in the Iran elections. Every claim about vote rigging has a perfectly reasonable and rational counter-claim. See IranAffairs.com for more FACTS about the alleged election fraud in Iran.
Don't believe what you're told. THINK: WHY WOULD THEY RESORT TO FRAUD when the opposition leader, Mousavi, is very much a regime insider and hardly a threat to the system?
See IranAffairs.com for more FACTS

I love how the desperate IslamoLlama squeals and cries when the facts don't go in its favor.
First, personal attacks:
"And nobody knows more about terrorism than Director "Oops, 9/11" Mueller. Perhaps we can get some tips on national security from George Tenet next."
He's Obama's FBI Director. Own it. Why did Obama keep him in if he's so incompetent? Why does Obama allow incompetents to be in charge of our national security, Islamo?
Next, whining and trying to blame others.
"A measure put forward by the GOP caucus. Hey, I'll be the first to admit the Dems got rolled on this. But it was the Republicans on every talk show that would book them whining about how a Gitmo detainee in a US prison was going to cause the next 9/11."
The GOP caucus can't raise these; they're the minority. The Obama Party caucus raised, pushed, and passed this, with the overwhelming majority of Obama Party Senators voting for it. A rare display of sense on their part, and a face-slap to you and your pathetic Obama, lying Islamo.
Thanks for admitting that your party is a bunch of unprincipled weak puppets whose only concern is talk show ratings. Not that we didn't know it already.
"One of the major appeals of universal coverage would be to get patients OUT of the emergency room and IN to a private practice physician's office."
Only to Obama puppets like yourself who aren't familiar with facts.
"The visit rate for Medicaid patients (81.0 per 100 persons with Medicaid, SE = 3.8) was higher than those with Medicare (52.4 per 100 persons with Medicare, SE = 2.5), no insurance (41.4 per 100 persons with no insurance, SE = 2.4), and private insurance (21.5 per 100 persons with private insurance, SE = 1.0)"
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/ad/ad358.pdf (page 6)
And a prime example of that in action:
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2002059602_emergency11m.html
In short, those patients on government health plans, who you whined needed to be there for "preventative care", are the ones who are using the emergency room the most often. They are using it MORE than the uninsured are.
And here the bullshit shines through. There is nothing in the legislation to ban private insurance.
Of course there is. Obama intends to undercut private insurance and force everyone onto the government plan. But of course, the liar was called out on his lies when he was forced to admit that he wouldn't accept the restrictions that he will force everyone to follow on the government plan.
And finally, the ultimate example of the IslamoLlama hypocrisy:
"ut screw the doctors and screw the patients, because NDT has to protect an threatened private insurance practice that will as soon label him a "pre-existing condition" as bother to front payment."
But what does IslamoLlama support the government telling you to do?
He added: "Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller."
So the screaming IslamoLlama insists that denying anyone exactly the care they want is wrong when private insurers do it, but insists that it's a good thing when the government does it.
Why do you hate patients, IslamoLlama? Why do you support government rationing of health care?
