I guess I am getting old. Regarding the Resolute Desk Obama uses, used by most presidents since 1880 - I found this line on the WH site funny given the pic Drudge has been fronting with Obama's feet sitting on it that has offended some Israelis. He was talking to Netanyahu at the time.
What the president has on his desk is often symbolic of his style and experience.
After I finished college the first corporate VP I worked in the same building with was an old Navy, Princeton guy. He came in my office early on and I was sitting there with my feet up well after 5pm. "We don't do that here," was all he had to say about that. ha I don't think I have ever put my feet up on my office desk, again - even when I switched to tech and business casual. It left an impression.
Israeli TV newscasters Tuesday night interpreted a photo taken Monday in the Oval Office of President Obama talking on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as an "insult" to Israel.
They saw the incident as somewhat akin to an incident last year, when the Iraqi reporter threw a shoe at President Bush in Baghdad.
It is considered an insult in the Arab world to show the sole of your shoe to someone. It is not a Jewish custom necessarily, but Israel feels enough a part of the Middle East after 60 years to be insulted too.

Dan...big difference. King Barry never had a real job or a father to keep him in line...

Didn't Obama make a fuss when he came to DC a week early back in January and couldn' stay at Blair House because Gordon Brown was staying there? Seems the guy notices when he is denied the trappings he isn't yet entitled to, but doesn't have enough style or experience to know when to respect people and things that have earned it.

President Obama said on Monday that the growing number of cases of swine flu in the United States and abroad was “not a cause for alarm,”
Today
The World Health Organization was poised on Thursday to declare that the new H1N1 virus has caused the first influenza pandemic in more than 40 years, health sources said on Thursday.
"Good job Brownie...I mean Barry?

Swine Flu: I bet it will be several orders of magnitude more virulent and ugly than it is in Winter time.
Just wait til November when the winter Flu season kicks off. And with a potentially record-setting deep freeze winter (better load up on wood or pellets for that wood burning stove while yer at it)... we could be looking at a death toll in the tens of millions, just like the old Grippe of 1918.

Can someone help me out? What is the connection between Obama speaking on the phone with his feet on the desk, Riehl's boss theories on business decorum and the 1918 flu? Now, I don't want to inhibit you guys from jumping from one Obama bashing subject to the next but sometimes the leaps made would make Dwight Stones jealous.
BTW, has the Israeli public taken up this contention by a few "journalists" that Obama does not respect Jewish culture? The American Jewish public? Sometimes, I gotta wonder who speaks for Israelis and Jews. I could swear that right wing, white male protestants are indeed the appropriate group that should hold that right but sometimes, they tend to poll all those pesky Jews who think they get to weigh in on these issues. Wait, here they go again.... http://www.examiner.com/x-8470-Denver-Jewish-Examiner~y2009m5d6-Gallup-Poll-American-Israeli-Jews-overwhelmingly-support-Obama
