A novelist would be scolded for the manufactured irony. We got some fun, now. Oh, boy. This could get tense.
The U.S. military is planning to intercept a flagged North Korean ship suspected of proliferating weapons material in violation of a U.N. Security Council resolution passed last Friday, FOX News has learned.
The USS John McCain, a navy destroyer, will intercept the ship Kang Nam as soon as it leaves the vicinity off the coast of China, according to a senior U.S. defense official. The order to inderdict has not been given yet, but the ship is getting into position.

if i were kim?
make obama sink that boat. the crew, the vessel, the missiles are all expendable.
the benefits?
shakedown continues at 10 times the pace.
the reasoning?
obama WILL NOT engage NK in anyway, for fear of being responsible for an attack on SK. Even if obama is provoked into action, the wh will want to deescalate as quickly as possible. Just wondering if they'll buy kim off with money or just make him a shareholder in aig, citi, and gm.

if i were the wh?
find a way of scuttling the ship without any(or minimal) casualties. no one dies, and the outcome is far better.
don't know if they have the tech for a 'light takedown' of a ship but an adhesive torpedoes loaded with magnesium might keep the seabees(or seals) from having to be at risk. Boat slowly sinks, we rescue the survivors, and offer amnesty to any who so choose.
sets up well for future conflicts, as their resolve to fight will have to be mitigated against the US willing to accept surrender.

one other small point...
obama has to stop the ship before the misslies get launched.
if they are intercepted by a missile defense program, the ad that destroys his crediblity writes itself.
"obama had to use missile defense to protect this country. obama is cutting missile defense."

I think the boat will mysteriously "slip through undetected".

Oh, I'm not so sure it's manufactured irony...
I hope the damned ship doesn't cancel it's freakin' mission to go back to base to cover some emergency. 'Happened before.
Look, I know that isn't a kind comment. I was furious when McCain allowed some G-d damned moron in a penguin-suit to sucker him into believing in the "global warming" farce. (Damn, but the penguin-suit should have been a hint, Senator!)
On the other hand, Senator McCain is a man who's service to this country deserves my deepest thanks and respect. I thank him, too, from the bottom of my heart for introducing the nation to Sarah Palin.
Here's to a Prayer that the USS John McCain and her crew wins this round.

Every time Fox News says USS John McCain, I can hear people saying-
What have we done!
It is truly fitting to have this Destroyer out there right now, while at home the Stinkulus is smelling up America-and the honeymoon is over.
By 2010, I hope America will sober up and divorce itself from this disaster, and that the damage can be repaired in 2012.

I'm pretty sure that ship is named after the Senator's father, who was an admiral in the Navy. But it's still rather nice.

Personally I wouldn't be a bit surprised if, due to their wonderful advisers, the Admin & President don't come down with a sudden case of "YIN HE Flu".
