It looks as if someone isn't being completely forthrightinvolving the firing of AmeriCorps IG. Yes, sentiment will start breaking down along ideological lines. But the fact is most of us just don't know what's really going on, yet.
Fired AmeriCorps inspector general Gerald Walpin strongly denies the White House's claim that he was "confused, disoriented [and] unable to answer questions" at a May 20, 2009 board meeting of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the organization that oversees AmeriCorps. In a letter to several members of Congress Tuesday night, Norman Eisen, who is the White House Special Counsel to the President for Ethics and Government Reform, wrote that at the May 20 meeting, "Mr. Walpin was confused, disoriented, unable to answer questions and exhibited other behavior that led the board to question his capacity to serve." Eisen wrote that Walpin lost the confidence of the Corporation Board, which led to the decision to fire him.
There are some things about Walpin they could be inferring here, true or not. Moe Lane recaps here.
I suspect this is going to get very interesting, at least for a time, no matter what.

i want to know if Soetoro's Klingon Bride is involved in this, throwing her prolific weight around and flexing her biceps in building her gal pals careers on the government dole.
I also want to know if Rahm Emmanuel is calling the plays and putting out the stories. Will there be witnesses willing to perjur themselves before Congress telling the story of how disoriented the IG was at the "meeting"?
I think the IG should pursue a wrongful termination suit with the relevant labor relations board. Start small and keep putting the White House lawyers to work.
This one has legs on many levels.

If this was a Republican who did this there would be he** to pay. Remember the US Attorney's firing? Can you say 'double standard'?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the only one in DC suffering from dementia was smirky Joe Biden.
Either dementia or just plain dumb.
I've listened to Mr. Walpin several times and I never detected the slightest stumble or uhs, annnnds, or whatever the manchild does when the teleprompter goes on the fritz or he has to wing it.
That guy can't tell you his name without reading it.

Steve,
You've been commenting some, so I've added you to the blog roll. But please allow me to give you some advice and please don't take it as an insult. Just some guidance from a guy out here for over five years.
If you come across an established blog you like - add it, don't ask for an exchange. Link some posts there, let the person know you've linked him/her. Maybe offer him a post of yours you think he might like based upon reading him. Then email and say - hey, I've added you to my blah blah blah. WOuld you consider ....
Experience suggests the offer will be looked on more kindly. I say this only because we get such requests from blogs we don't know from Adam - don't even know if they read us, etc. That's just a link trolling game. Try to make sure it has some value other than just another link from another blog. Many veterans will reject it out of hand.

narry a peep from the left.
imagining how much mileage they couldn't gotten out this, had a similar structure of hiring and firing been in place for the US attorneys. has to make them green with envy, or red with shame, or brown with...
the incident is eerily similar to travel-gate, in dragging a first lady into an issue that she had no business being involved with. some sympathy for the clinton's as it wasn't anywhere close to being as nefarious OR ILLEGAL as what the obama's just pulled. eventually they will suffer the death of a thousand cuts, but this is a very deep one, on their face, for all to see.

Gerald Walpin Character Assassination?
Why the question mark? This is classic politics of destruction. This is classic leftist politics.
This is how Marxists operate. Walpin is CRAZY!! He's nutso! He's Koook. He's Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
Walpin goes away the corruption continues.
This is Obama and Chicago. This is typical Democrat bullshit.

I just walked out of an alternate universe...
Gerald Walpin was the answer to every democrats' prayer, in that he was a victim of the Patriot Act. The msm stories were endless-
"a victim of a govt gone to far, and a policy that threatens us all".
This universe? gerald walpin is just a victim of a vindictive wh. instead of inventing a policy to perpetrate the act, the wh simply reneged on an offer of protection, that became law, which was written by the president. in this universe, not a very big deal.
can't tell you how many times i had to scroll through the "blanket response" to the question of what experinces the president had in regards to the senate. no chance the ones offering his legistlative record in his defense will address his refusal to adhere to his legistlative record.
to borrow from geraghty(?):
all obama promises and NOW laws, come with an expiration date.

"here are some things about Walpin they could be inferring here, true or not."
Well, let's look at the facts. Does he seem senile? Did St. Hope have to pay back the $400k? Was Kevin Johnson an Obama supporter? Did Obama have a problem with letting Walpin say good things about Sotomayer? Did Walpin have a problem with St. Hope before AmeriCorps ASKED HIM to do the investigation? (which would seem to say that it's not a personal vandetta).
Has Walpin gone after Republicans before?
About Walpin's sloppy investigation,Senator Grassley wrote in his letter to the president that “there have been no negative findings against Mr. Walpin by the Integrity Committee of the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency,” that “he has identified millions of dollars in AmeriCorps funds either wasted outright or spent in violation of established guidelines,” and that “it appears he has been doing his job.”
And that's about all I can find on that terrible job he did on the investigation that yielded $400k for the tax payers. I'm trying to get both sides of this, there's nothing on Slate about Walpin's sloppy work, nothing on Daily Kos, nothing on Buzzflash, nothing on Salon, and I can't seem to find much of substance on Google. Does anyone have any links to exactly what Walpin did wrong in his investigation??
Oh, and here's a nice picture of Eric Holder and Kevin Johnson.

What the f@#$ are we doing in this country? How f234ing much money to we have to shovel at LEFTISTS and CULTISTS before we fight back???

I said it from the very beginning. We are now in the throes of the most corrupt administration in history, a banana republic if you will, right here in the USA. My only question is why white people, who should have had better sense, would ever vote for the clown.
It will very soon get violent, as the Obama goons are turned against anyone who would stand in their way. Mark my words. Write them in stone with today's date on them. And these goofy white liberals who voted for this clown ought to be the first ones to suffer at his hands. And they will in fact suffer, just not first, but the goons will get around to them sooner or later.

just finished watching beck administer a comptetncy test on walpin...
must see tv.
the aboma admin just jumped off a sinking ship, only to land in burning gasoline. this is going to be a slow cooker for some time.
not that the palin/letterman fervor was wasted event, but half the enthusiam with this guy's story, and the gop can go big game hunting.

Or Calvin Coolidge.

This speaks volumes about Obama. Accusing a senior citizen of being senile. It's kind of like calling a black man a "boy".
Anyway, this is a good preview of where our $787B is going to. This level of corruption even surprises someone like me who disliked Obama to begin with. Using the office of the Presidency in this manner is an impeachable offense.

"My only question is why white people, who should have had better sense, would ever vote for the clown."
I don't think it has to do with race, essentially. Oh, some of the corruption and its excuses will be race-based, but I think it's really a matter of class in the Marxist sense. It's the union of the underclass and the paternalistic overclass, with the underclass looking to loot and the overclass looking to excuse the looting as "spreading the wealth".
Of course, that wealth isn't going to come from the overclass.

He was the least worst clown in the race to a lot of people. It isn't like I'm wishing McCain was POTUS right now, just because he may be somewhat better than Obama. With McCain, you get global warming legislation and possibly a war with Iran. Now just isn't the time for that. I seriously believe many people - enough to make the difference - just didn't see a President in John McCain, especially given his age. Let's face it, he was terrible during the campaign.
