Cancel HBO - Bill Maher: Notice Me! Notice Me!

Hey! I'm a low rent, marginally talented guy and if I couldn't get away wth saying outlandish things because I've been shipped off to cable where I can pretend to have half a career, people would soon realize how relatively little talent I actually have. So, since Letterman figured out he was going down if he didn't wise up, can I get a ticket to ride? Pleaseee!! What a loser. Two ways to deal with this - ignore him, or cancel your subscription to HBO right now.

I'm not big on the whole boycott thing. But this time, it's time to make a statement. If you have it, do you really want this guy hanging around your house in any form? Don't protest - hit them where it hurts, just as Jimmy Arone at Big Hollywood suggests and did. Enough!

In defending his friend, Maher thought Republicans had over reacted and this was just a case of ‘fake’ outrage. Much ado about nothing. He then went on talking about how Letterman had invited Sarah Palin and her young daughter, Willow, to appear as guests on his show but the Governor declined because she thought it would be wise to keep her daughter away from him. Said Maher, “…that’s right, he’s 62 years old, he’s gonna fuck her right there on stage…it would be very wise to keep her, very wise, yes. You know, I’d worry a little more about the 18-year old hockey players who knock up your daughters.” To which his audience of trained seals laughed and clapped and had a good old time.

I sat there stunned. Much like his pal Letterman, as far as I was concerned, Maher had crossed the line. Big Time.

Time for action. Saturday, my wife and I canceled our HBO service. A big thank you to Bill Maher. If there are others out there who have had enough of his brand of comedy, I suggest you take some action. Make a phone call to your service provider, let them know how you feel. You need to hit back. Hit ‘em hard where they understand it most, in the wallet. For some odd reason, that seems to get their collective attention. Money. Honey.

In the complaint I am writing to the FCC, I had suggested that if Letterman did not at the very least receive a warning, this type of thing would continue and even escalate. Now I have an example.

I canceled HBO 2-3 months ago. I also notified them, why I was canceling their service. Specifically Bill Maher and the partisan hack documentary, Right America: Feeling Wronged, from Alexandra Pelosi.

No, Bill, Palin isn't worried that Letterman may try to fuck her daughter on TV. She's worried that that insensitive lout may say more damaging, irritating, insensitive things to her young daughter. And as a parent she has every right to be protective.

At least grant her that.

Bill Maher always makes ridicules straw man arguments like the one he offered here, and he tells it like a joke, but the way in which he does so, you can tell that he's conflating it with the truth in his own, utterly stoned, brain.

Yeah, I actually canceled my subscription to HBO earlier this week simply because it rarely carried anything I considered watchable. Oddly, the most intelligent program on the channel was the one featuring a nekkid Katie Morgan ruminating on the history of porn. Katie is a real pistol--maybe she ought to run for governor of California.

One of the ironies here is how much folks can't stop talking about and re-imagining a joke to allow them to continually bring up and crudely discuss sex with a 14 year old girl.

Also, re: HBO - Did anyone see Generation Kill?
I would think many here would have some appreciation for HBO's producing a very balanced and respectful portrayal of the young Americans actually fighting in an actual war.

Ben Dover......You are a priceless gem. I always wondered where you were going to end up after your porch-playing banjo duet in "Deliverance". Keep up the good work. You see, conservatives somehow tend to believe we can only get emotional responses, not intellectual responses, from liberals such as yourself.
