This Melamed guy must be really thin skinned. He's planting letters to the editor that brag about himself, rather than his cause.

Nursing homes: Ensuring funding and quality of care
Posted by Charles J. O’Fahey, Cleveland May 02, 2009 04:16AM
Categories: Letters

I'm an 84-year-old resident of St. Augustine Manor in Cleveland. Our spirited rally April 22 drew 500 people to oppose the governor's proposed budget cuts for nonprofit nursing homes. St. Augustine, for example, stands to lose $2 million in funding over the next two years. Five other nonprofit homes in Cleveland bused in residents to join our fight.

Quality care is the key here. Will Ohio and this nation warehouse the elderly or provide a decent quality of life to seniors who have worked hard and paid taxes for years?

I and my fellow residents are voters, as are thousands of our relatives and friends. These people are our real lobbyists, not just pros like Alan Melamed. We understand the recession, but this issue deserves the highest priority. We urge the Ohio legislature and Gov. Ted Strickland to do the wise and right thing.
