All this while Obama is ramming through regulations and programs that will take money out of individual's pockets and force significant tax increases down the road. As California goes, so goes the nation. It's only a matter of time.

It is imperative that Republicans not become aligned with Obama's moves and forge prudent alternatives people will one day accept to roll back the ongoing destruction of America's economic engine by this administration. Otherwise, China, India and others will be looking at the American economy in the rearview mirror of cars Americans may end up driving, too. They just won't be made here. Not much will be, if Obama gets his way.

Schwarzenegger helped behind the scenes to garner big contributions for the measure's proponents, who raised about $30 million and outspent foes by nearly 10 to 1.

Among the big contributors were businesses hoping to avoid tax increases if state finances slumped further: oil companies, tobacco and alcoholic beverage firms, sports teams and Hollywood studios. Despite a big advantage in cash and manpower, the campaign failed to gain traction from the start.

Polls throughout the race showed all the ballot measures -- except Proposition 1F -- losing badly, as voters expressed equal parts confusion over the package and disdain for the Sacramento politicians who crafted it.

Californians seemed upset partly by Sacramento's call for more money at a time when employment was sagging, retirement accounts were plunging and the average resident was struggling.

First, I want to say that I hate news pieces about elections that don't have vote tallies. People got to the polls to have the vote counted not summarized.

Frankly, California is just a microcosm of the nation ... they want every possible service but don't want to pay for them. Frankly, the taxes nation wide have been ratcheted up to the point that we will have to expand the tax base below "middle income" workers or lose some services. Taxing the rich isn't going to do anything but drive them to another state.

This first manifestation of the Margaret Thatcher attributed quote .. "the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money" will point the way to the future.

I'm not optimistic. I expect more "smoke n mirrors." Unfortunately, the state constitution doesn't say that all seats of the state government should go back up for election when faced with a bankruptcy and all pensions for elective positions should be revoked.

First of all the regs. being pushed are not programs which will force higher taxes down the road, should they pass they will be de facto taxes right now. Given that cap and trade (which Obama is pushing) will cost between $700-$1300 per family (and he admitted over a year ago would bankrupt new coal plants) and that the new auto emission standards are going to raise the price of a car by $1300 I'd say those are two areas you may want to examine. Oh and it's not really all that much of a coincidence that oil prices have begun to rise sharply now that Obama once more closed off the domestic regions opened by Bush last July (which just happened to occur around the same time oil dropped sharply). That is where his regs. are effectively costing Americans money.

Then there's the issue of the budget, which is what will force higher taxes down the road. As was pointed out months ago, and all but ignored by the media, Obama could take all the money the top 2% (or was it 5%) of earners in the US make annually and it would not cover the cost of his proposed programs. He's going to have to get that money from somewhere, especially if he manages to nationalize health care.

Does that provide you with a partial answer?

What makes this even more ludicrous is that, if you think about it, spending $1 billion per week for 6 years adds up to $312 billion -- which is less than one-QUARTER of the amount of the projected Obama deficit of $1.4 trillion dollars just for 2010.

In other words, your Obama has gone over budget in one year four times the entire cost of the Iraq war to date -- all money he doesn't have and which he can't get without raising taxes on productive working people.

Second, the graph you were provided, which you obviously didn't read, is one generated by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) looking at spending versus revenues. Even though you and your fellow leftists try to scream that supplemental funding requests are "off-budget", the fact is that they are included in the CBO analysis presented, because it tracks spending.

The word "racist" to leftists now means anyone who dares point out Obama's mistakes or flaws, so that doesn't particularly worry me. We know that the black Obama himself and the Obama Party's Congressional Black Caucus endorse and support as "not racist" politicians such as Kwame Kilpatrick who say that black women should be "ashamed" to ride in cars with men named White.
