I guess the world loves us now that Obama was elected. They aren't going to support him by following his lead on more financial stimulus - that's for the US to do alone in large part going forward.
And now they aren't going to offer any new troops as part of Obama's Afghanistan initiative, either. By the way, in a bizarre twist, Pakistani Taliban militant leader Baituallah Mehsud has claimed responsibility for the Binghamtom, NY shootings. I suppose next he'll be claiming to have eaten the State Department's manual on protocol and to have fussed with Obama's teleprompter, too. But the world loves us thanks to Obama, so everything has changed!
Barack Obama made an impassioned plea to America’s allies to send more troops to Afghanistan, warning that failure to do so would leave Europe vulnerable to more terrorist atrocities. But though he continued to dazzle Europeans on his debut international tour, the Continent’s leaders turned their backs on the US President.

It's one thing to draw crowds and have fans drool over you, but like any real celebrity event, once the show's shut down, everybody goes back to their normal life.
Reminds me of all the "X-aid" concerts. Most of them did some good, but they mostly were a showcase for the celebrities themselves. Good intentions; "brave" celebrities, & in the end, very little results.

Obambi is learning more and more that a passionate plea just doesn't work on the international stage. Other countries weren't pulling their troops out of Afghanistan because of the EVIL Booooosh, but for other reasons. Obama should have check with Mr. Reality before making promises he couldn't deliver on.

Don't you guys just hate it when things go America's way?

Oh, my
"Thousands of protesters also took to the streets in Istanbul's Kadikoy district, chanting "Yankee Go Home!" A banner read: "Obama go back home."

Mr. Riehl, I think your post can be filed under "squawking."

And all European leaders were heard to mutter sotto voce: Afghanistan is a distraction.

Other than Canadians and Americans how many NATO troops have been killed in the war in Afghanistan?
