I hate to diss a West Point grad. But if we look at the decision maker, you could draw one unflattering conclusion. And a look at his full resume might be even more revealing.

Fire Louis Caldera, White House Terror Plane Plotter!

Caldera distinguished career includes serving on the board of directors for IndyMac Bank from 2002 until its failure and subsequent seizure by the government in July 2008. In other words, he was there for the entire housing bubble while the bank destroyed itself.

From his wiki.Yes, he graduated from West Point. Then promptly did his required years at Fort Dix and opted out for Harvard Law. He's had a number of jobs, most lasting one or two years, and pretty clearly seems to have been a political appointment by Clinton as Secretary of the Army after a year at ... Americorp!

Now think about that. From Army Secretary to now being a White House coordinator?? You might think a former Secretary would warrant a slot just a bit more important, no?

No, probably not. Sorry, I think we're talking about a typical political hack, most likely especially appealing to both Obama and Clinton due to his ethnicity and his being the child of Mexican immigrants. But that's how the game is played by both parties. So we end up with dumb decisions by bureaucrats appointed and even promoted for their politics, more so than their capabilities, or genuine accomplishments.

Caldera began in private practice after graduating from Harvard — with the law firm of practiced law from 1987 to 1989 at the firm of O’Melveny & Myers from 1987 to 1990, and then the firm of Buchalter, Nemer, Fields and Younger, attorney from 1990 to 1991. From 1991 to 1992, he was a Deputy Counsel for Los Angeles County.

Caldera then served as a California State Assemblyman from 1992 to 1997, representing the nearly 400,000 residents of the 46th District, which is located in and around downtown Los Angeles. As an Assemblyman, he served as chairman of the Banking and Finance Committee, the Revenue and Taxation Committee, and the Budget Committee.

Before finishing his third term in the Assembly, Caldera left to begin serving as managing director and chief operating officer for President Bill Clinton's Corporation for National and Community Service (1997-1998), a domestic volunteer program.

On May 22, 1998, Clinton announced Caldera as his selection for Secretary of the Army.[4] On July 2, Caldera was sworn in as the 17th Secretary of the Army by Secretary of Defense William Cohen.
