Some people might point out that calling a disease "swine flu" could leave people with the impression that it is transmitted by food made from pigs. This creates confusion which is generally a bad thing.

As Vilsack points out:
"This is not a food-borne illness, virus. It is not correct to refer to it as swine flu because really that's not what this is about," Vilsack said.

Some people might think it smart to refer to a disease in a way that minimizes confusion. These people might note that its silly to make pork, soybean, and corn producers suffer over simple verbiage. We could refer to this as the "business friendly" political stance.

Others would rather just endlessly bitch into the wind because "ZOMG, learning new things is HARD!" Seriously, grow up or grow a pair or something.
