Illegal Immigration: Shame On You, Conservatives

Forget that their parents entered this country illegally. Put aside that their standard of living is significantly above what they would ever achieve in their home country where they belong. And forget that they are being born in numbers certain to bog down our already decaying institutions like public education. You aren't allowed to think about any of that. Your job is to feel ashamed because you expect your government to actually enforce the laws they have already passed for your amusement and votes. Shame on you conservatives. tsk! tsk!

PHOENIX (Reuters) - A growing number of illegal immigrants are having children in the United States and raising them in poverty, a study released on Tuesday showed.

Around 11.9 million mostly Hispanic illegal immigrants live and work in the United States, and Americans are sharply divided over what to do with them.

The survey by the Pew Hispanic Center, based in U.S. Census Bureau figures, found that the number of U.S. born children of unauthorized migrants grew to 4 million in 2008, up from 2.7 million five years earlier.

It found that a third of the children of unauthorized immigrants and a fifth of adult unauthorized immigrants live in poverty -- nearly double the poverty rate for children of U.S.-born parents.

The study found that the median household income of unauthorized immigrants was $36,000 in 2007, well below the $50,000 median household income for U.S.-born residents.

I just saw a report on CNN (apparently one from last...September, maybe?) about US-born kids of illegal immigrants being separated (NOT forcibly) from their deported parents. The report sympathetically focused on "Julie" who decided to remain in the US while her mother returned to Mexico. The report concluded with Julie's dream to become a lawyer and fight for kids who are separated from their illegal-immigrant parents.

I'm nearly speechless and certainly outraged at the way this report was handled and the emphasis on exactly the wrong issue. Fortunately I have enough energy to express my hope that Julie does become a lawyer: hopefully, one of the first things she will learn is the definition of ILLEGAL.

But concerning the Mexican/Latino invasion... that will soon go away as we attain 40% unemployment and 2000% inflation.

They'll simply pack up and head back south of the border for better employment prospects.

Question, are not American citizen parents that commit a crime and are caught and sent to prison forcibly seperated from their children? Does anyone else see the double standard that is being applied to their arguement?

Yankeebravo, you are one of the few people who have raised the question of separating children from American citizens who commit crimes. This is indeed a double standards. Let the illegals commit multiple crimes, driving without a license, stealing identities or purchasing illegal documents, intentionally crawing across the border to birth children here for the anchor affect for the entire family, and so the story goes. Murder, rape, drug running, all that seems to take a second seat to getting friuts picked cheapely. Our government is in the process, in my opinion of America becoming an open border country with welfare socialist provisons for all who want (not that they are authorized, but just want) to live in America. Obama will blead the middle and upper class until, well there just isn't anymore. We will be ripe then for a communist environment. No one will have anything left to bargin with. Obama is dangerous. Illegal immigration is just one leg of his plan for America. Right now ower 40% of people in America do not pay one dime in federal income tax. Add a few million more and he's set to go for his welfare program and taking over America not as a servant as our President but more like those he seems to admire, Castro and Chavez. So sad that this guy got in on hope and will leave us with none.
