Maybe people will react differently, but I just found this 2 minute Geithner testimony strange all by itself. Is he angry? Pretending to be? Or is he auditioning to play a sort of Mrs. Doubtfire scold for some new Hollywood flick? The second one is of Obama at about the very same time. It's as if you tune into this administration for a documentary and all you ever see is a variety show.
Space is cool. It's important and fun, too. But this is the Leno Obama surrounded by school kids and Congress-critters he calls "Big kids when they talk to astronauts" - going on to laughingly ask about everything from drinking Tang, to if the female Astronaut ever thinks about cutting her hair. And he needs copious notes just to do that.
I'm not looking for faux outrage here. But there's something about this WH that is bizarrely out of touch with real world events.
If it were a sit com, the pilot would never have gotten picked up. more via ABC
“Does weightlessness have an impact in terms of ability to sleep?” he wondered.
(It takes awhile to get used to.)
“Are you tempted to cut your hair shorter,” the president asked a female astronaut with long hair which was sticking out in all directions.
(She does not think she’d look good with short hair, so no.)
And how does email work for the astronauts?

"The ghost of Lehman Brothers will forever haunt Tiny Tim Geithner, Cramer said Thursday. The Treasury secretary’s decision to let that investment bank fail will be a black mark on his credibility. In fact, it’s the whole reason he can’t garner popular support for his latest rescue plan.'

That's one of my Congress critters sitting on Obama's left, Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) who is from Brevard County where the Kennedy Space Center is located. While he was busy yukking it up with Obama, I was busy calling Nelson's office this afternoon to tell him my extreme displeasure with Obama's economic policies. Nelson has a picture of Obama and him plastered on his website as well as a .
I'd like these "big kids" to start acting like responsible adults or just go home and put together their space station models.

The leading candidate to run the Treasury Department's $700 billion bailout program has withdrawn his name from consideration, according to people familiar with the matter.
Frank Brosens, a hedge-fund manager and big Democratic donor, was considered the top contender to run the Treasury's Troubled Asset Relief Program. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is now considering several other candidates, including Herb Allison, who currently heads mortgage giant Fannie Mae." http://tinyurl.com/c9sma5
Why doesn't anyone want to work for Treasury?

Michelle Bachmann was the only voice of reason in the room and she could not get a straight answer.
The rest of the cast of characters sat there with their thumbs up their asses. It's gonna be a dark 4 years ahead.
