Based upon a Fox Report NASA's chief climate scientist Dr. James Hanson may have violated the Hatch Act amid claims that he has "gone off the deep end" ... and right square into a snow bank it seems, due to his call for civil disobedience during a DC climate protest set for tomorrow as DC prepares for an unusual March snowstorm. Something tells me Al Gore just has to be involved somehow!
Ah, I knew it!
Former Vice President Al Gore, who toured with Hansen while promoting "An Inconvenient Truth," did not return repeated requests for comment for this article.
NASA's chief climate scientist is in hot water with colleagues and at least one lawmaker after calling on citizens to engage in civil disobedience at what is being billed as the largest public protest of global warming ever in the United States.
But critics say Hansen's latest call to action blurs the line between astronomer and activist and may violate the Hatch Act, which prohibits federal employees from participating in partisan political activity.
"Oh my goodness," one of Hansen's former supervisors, Dr. John Theon, told FOXNews.com when informed of the video. "I'm not surprised ... The fact that Jim Hansen has gone off the deep end here is sad because he's a good fellow."

He is no longer a good fellow in my book.
He is as bad as Al Whore opps Al Gore.
I read the article and saw the video the other day. What a scumbag idiot !

Been so damm cold up here in Minnesota that I am sure that Gore is in the area somewhere, just have not spotted him yet. Re Hansen in my opinion he is a liar, has been proven a liar by skewing data to match the finding that he wanted to arrive at, that act alone where I work whould get anyone fired and blacklisted for any further employment in the industry.

I'll never understand the antipathy the rightwingnuts have for Al Gore's concerns regarding Global Climate Change. Is it a financial thing, religious thing? Why in the world could caring about the Earth's health cause so much hatred? I don't see a bad side to ensuring a robust environment for our children and grandchildren. Is it me or are you guys picking fights anywhere and everywhere without much thought? Dr. James Hansen is a notable scientist who has worked at Goddard for almost 30 years. Do a little research on him. He is not a crazy nut or criminal as the quote by a known skeptic relied on by republican media would have you believe. Come on people THINK.

Theresa, the trouble with Gore's climate change hysteria is that is has NOTHING to do with the health of the Earth, and EVERYTHING to do with politics and the redistribution of wealth from 'rich' countries and individuals to 'poorer' via taxes and fear-mongering. As well as making Gore a tidy sum in the process.
I'm sure every right winger you polled would say they care about the Earth and its future - who wouldn't? We all have to live on it. You seem to have equated dislike of Gore's policies and fear-mongering as dislike of the environment. Not true. Both Hansen and Gore have lied repeatedly about the effects of climate change, exaggerated and doctored graphs, charts, tables and other data, whipped up fear and hatred and stifled reasonable debate.
If you do some real research on the subject and look outside the leftwing parrot sites for your data, you will find that climate change is not a given, nor are the so-called impacts of rising levels of CO2 and sea levels etc etc. There is plenty that is outright wrong. Don't tell us we don't think. We are not all brainless idiots because we don't subscribe to the Gore hysteria. We just don't believe him. It has nothing to do with caring for Earth.

Oh so it is financial. I suspect that your "real research" was found on the rightwing "parrot" sites? There is no legitimate website I can google that proves "doctored graphs" and the many lies these respectable gentlemen have made. I'm sure that Gore and Hansen could have found easier ways to make a "tidy sum" if they had wanted that. But afterall, Gore at least was already wealthy. The motives you subscribe to them just aren't believable. Pretend that Gore is not even involved in the matter -- what do you say about the large collection of scientists who agree that something needs to be done? Have they all wasted their education and careers to spout lies for partisan and greedy financial purposes? That is also unbelievable. Like I said THINK. Here is one of those lefty parrot sites you can use to find answers to your questions regarding Climate Change: http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/fq/index.html
Of course who knows, the EPA might just be conning us all for a little more change in their pockets.

"...the antipathy....for Al Gore's concerns on Global Climate Change."
A couple of points, Theresa. First, Gore and his supporters(you are apparently one of them) said we had to worry about global warming and its results, which were melting of the ice caps, rise in sea level, etc. And then we find that there has actually been no warming of the Earth since 2000. So you people decide it's climate change we have to worry about, yet your particular theory regarding global warming turns out to be a fairy tale, so you change terminology in the middle of the game. And if rising levels of carbon are not causing the Earth to heat up, then your theory has been disproven. You may actually do more harm than good by limiting the use of carbon. Who knows?
Second, Al Gore claims he believes in limiting the use of carbon, yet he has one of the largest carbon footprints on the planet. That is called hypocrity, Ms. Theresa, and I frankly can't stand it. Or Gore. Or those who support such lunacy.
I hope this cleared it all up for you.

LOL, junkscience.com! Where do you think the money comes from to fund these anti-science sites? Who do you suppose would benefit if large groups of Americans were fed lies regarding the real science? How best to do that? Fan the partisan flames. Al Gore will make an easy boogieman, he's rich, he's concerned, and has a big "carbon footprint". Oh Jeesh. Can't you see what's in front of your faces? This shouldn't even be a partisan matter. How can anyone believe that the many Scientist Organizations > > http://tiny.cc/9eZZJ who agree on this are lying because they are out to make money?! As opposed to the many organizations who would be financially inconvenienced if protections were enacted?! I'll believe the well-educated and dedicated Scientists over Institutions who are only worried about their profits any day. Next time Templar Knight leave your condescension at the door. Or don't bother using my name altogether.

Award-winning physicist Dr. Will Happer coined the phrase “CO2 famine” and branded claims about man-made global warming as “mistaken” today at a Congressional hearing. Happer, who has published over 200 scientific papers, made his thoughts known during the Environmental and Public Works Full Committee Hearing. Entitled “Update on the Latest Global Warming Science,” the hearing afforded Happer the opportunity to make several eyebrow-raising claims.
“The increase in CO2 is not a cause for alarm and will be good for mankind,” Happer said. “Children should not be force-fed propaganda, masquerading as science.”

" Mr. Milloy(of Junkscience.com) holds a B.A. in Natural Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Health Sciences in Biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore, and a Master of Laws from the Georgetown University Law Center."

Mr. Milloy of JunkScience started his career with The Advancement of Sound Science Coalition (TASSC) which is a now defunct industry-funded PR front group run by the APCO Worldwide public relations firm. They were a front for Phillip Morris who attempted to discredit the scientific research that concluded that tobacco causes cancer. It advanced industry-friendly positions on a wide range of topics, including global warming, smoking, phthalates, and pesticides. Mr. Milloy is now an adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute which receives funds from the tobacco industry. I'm telling you their motives are greedy. You choose to believe them over scientists whose whole lives are dedicated to research and education...not out to deceive people at the cost of their health in order to fill their bank accounts. I'm done. It's like talking to a brick wall.

Au revoir.

Fool that I was. I mistakenly thought that Theresa actually wanted a debate on the merits of Al Gore and why the right hates him. Actually all she wants is to push her own little barrow and do a lalalalala I'm not listening to you.
Theresa, you are the perfect example of the left. Waste of time even trying to change your point of view. Bye.

If anyone is still reading this. James Hansen has called for fossil fuel CEO's to be put on trial for crimes against humanity and nature. He as called coal trains "death trains" (nice holocaust image). He has testified in British court of the acceptability of vandalism as long as it is directed against coal fired power plants ($75,000 in damage acquited by a British jury). He complains he is muzzled, but he has given over 1400 interviews. Everyone can draw their own conclusions from this.
There is a good debate on youtube.

Any hypothesis must be put to a measurable test. Check out the slide at about 6 min.
