Market Soars?

Obviously something is going on. And I know the libs will hoot and holler. But whatever's up isn't making a lot of sense unless signals are being sent behind the scenes, or president doom and gloom has been misrepresenting things. Frankly I don't believe that to be the case. There's more to this than meets the eye one way or another. What that might be I can't honestly say. But we will find out.

March 12 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks posted the biggest three-day gain since November as General Electric Co. said losing the top credit rating at Standard & Poor’s won’t hurt business and Bank of America Corp. said it’s profitable.

GE added 13 percent after losing the AAA ranking that it held since 1956, while Bank of America Corp. surged 19 percent. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. rose 3.1 percent after the government said retail sales beat estimates, indicating the biggest part of the economy is stabilizing. General Motors Corp. jumped 17 percent after saying it won’t need U.S. aid this month. Pfizer Inc. rallied 9.6 percent following success in a drug trial.

Its difficult to say or quantify. Sure investors get some positive GM statements...the Banks are fighting back with earnings reports.
Most stuff I own [all Dow 30] are still way off so Im forced to some day trading. Simply to compensate for losses on paper.
The "market" is a spoiled child or cruel mistress depending on your mindset.
Neither is grounded in any reality most of us recognize.
The market lives in a world of rumors, whispers and bullshit.
But whatever. Harley Davidson[HOG] was good to me over the past 5 days.
I never bitch about money made.

It appears any whiffs of positive news are enough for the market to latch onto. GM isn't going under this month (but probably will next month)= good news. The reason I heard today was that FASB was thinking of revising the mark to market accounting rules which many feel exacerbated the financial crisis.

Will you prostrate yourself before Obama if the market recovers because of his plans? Or are you all just looking to ankle bite for the next 8 years?

Maybe, just maybe, Obama is right not to judge the economy based off of day to day market fluctuations.

Yes something is going on and no we don't know what it is exactly but you can bet that their are people out there manipulating the market just the way they want to.
I wish we could see a daily report everyday on who sold what and who bought what.
I am beginning to wonder if there is any honestly left anymore.

Id like to think the markets have bottomed and were going to see a sustained and moderate gain.

Well, yeah. Obama IS an ineffectual failure... but not for "single handedly" destroying the economy. He is a failure for being a corrupt Chi-Town politico who appoints all his best-est tax-cheating corrupticrats to high executive posts.

As for the economy, well.. the blame for that rest mainly on the greed of people wanting to make a fast buck, live well beyond their means, and the corrupt politicos from BOTH parties who had no problem feeding from the kick-back trough.

The main reason for the rally is that there were definite signals this week that the mark-to-market rule, which has forced banks to write off as worthless literally trillions of dollars in assets, is likely going to be suspended for the near future or replaced.

But of course, since the Obama Party and the Obamamessiah supported and pushed that rule, that doesn't fit the narrative. It wouldn't be wise to tell people that the current financial pain we're experiencing could have been avoided if the Obamamessiah and the Obama Party had put the welfare of the United States ahead of their insane and ideological need to hate anyone who actually works and makes money.
