Rod Dreher, David Frum and over at AmCon, John Derbyshire, are all busy either running down talk radio, Rush Limbaugh, or flat-out gleefully piling on Michael Steele for making up with Rush.
The problem is any one of those three would be lucky to get either of the last two on the phone. And assuming Steele remains at the RNC for two years, he and Rush will be playing a substantive roll in future GOP wins and losses, while those first three will still be sitting on their arses writing about that, or something else.
So who really cares what they think in the end?
Not too many people, I'd bet.

Limbaugh has a real audience and makes lots of money.
Steele is chairman of the RNC, and presumably has the influence and so on that accrues to that position.
The others? Off the top of my head, Derbyshire is the only name I recognize, and I guess the others are some sort of 'conservative' pundit, the sort that used to be described once upon a time when there was only newspapers as "opinion makers".
Well, everybody is an opinion maker now, and the gate keepers are no more and these guys don't mean anything anymore. But not everyone realizes (or wants to realize) that anymore.

Is Coach Collins correct in his assessment of Steele?
"You are the de jure head of the Republican Party, but because of the vacuum your lack of leadership has produced, Rush Limbaugh IS the de facto leader of the Party.
I’m sick of a leaderless rudderless RNC giving us Bob Michel type leadership. I want a Chairman who will stand up and fight for conservatism and be able to distinguish friends from enemies."

I don't know Dreher's work but Frum is a fool and Derbyshire knows America like he knows his posterior. NRO has a few contributors worth reading but none make the front page except Steyn.
If Steele can't purge the RNC he serves no purpose.

This is from a long article from GOP USA -
"In order for the Republican Party to succeed, we must have positive, fresh ideas, and we must have leadership. We can't talk about "no earmarks" and turn a blind eye when Republicans continue to do it. We can't hope for "bipartisan" solutions to issues. It's just that simple. If a solution was really acceptable to the Democrats, do you think it would involve smaller government, lower taxes, and more freedom. No! They are only interested in havnig a bigger, more powerful government. We need to show the American people that we believe in them, not government. We need leadership!
-----
Please contact RNC Chairman Michael Steele and let him know what you think. We need to turn the party around, and we can't do it by acting like Democrats and blasting conservative stalwarts.

All hail Rushbo, the king of wingnuts! Bow down before your lord, Steele, you impudent knave!

Earmarks are about 2% of the spending bills passed and about half of them are Republican created and supported. Half of them are going to Red welfare queen states like Mississippi!
