Update: more here.
US Secretary of State Hillary is echoing Mexico's claims that the US is responsible for Mexico's drug and violence problems. It doesn't seem to matter whether the talking point on guns is legitimate, or not. It isn't. The unfortunate reality of this is that it renders debate meaningless. The Left will still trot out the same demons, guns in this case, no matter the truth. Yet, they will blast the opposition for not talking nice, or fostering polite debate. The only thing you can conclude is that they don't really want debate at all. The only alternative for conservatives is to have a proactive agenda that seeks to re-define the terms of debate, before engaging in it. Anything else will ultimately be a waste of time, unfortunately. Debate certainly sounds like a good approach. It just doesn't work when the debate is had on the opponent's terms.
The US secretary of state also acknowledged America's "inability" to stop weapons being smuggled across the border from the US and being used by the drug cartels in a bloody turf war.
Mrs Clinton made her candid remarks as she flew to Mexico City for a two-day visit where she will discuss US plans to ramp up border security with President Felipe Calderon.

This woman is an incompetent idiot.

From the article -
"Mexico has repeatedly said it cannot contain the increasingly brutal cartels, now armed with grenades and rocket launchers, if America does not do more to stop the drugs gangs buying guns in the US, where they are much easier to obtain.
"It's not only guns. It's night vision goggles. It's body armour," said Mrs Clinton. "These criminals are outgunning the law enforcement officials." More than 8,000 people have been killed in drug-related fighting since January 2008."
Grenades and rocket launchers? Body Armour? Are they buying these at gun shows? Why does the left lie so much, do they ever, ever tell the truth?

of course we all know that groups of criminals that routinely smuggle tons of narcotics across multiple international borders will have trouble getting weapons if only somehow the laws in the US were tougher...

Interesting that this story is being played like a broken record. Watch Brady and gang really push on this issue.

On the contrary:
If every American were properly educated and trained in the role and use of firearms, and how to defend our home states, there'd be a lot less trans-border violence.
That said, the best that we can hope for (and this is more likely to happen than the Feds not wanting to grab everyone's guns) is that the Army is called home from the Middle East, and the Mexican border is mined 1km deep with anti-tank/anti-APC/anti-vehicles mines, anti-personnel mines, boucing betties, and routinely patrolled by Blackhawks, assault drone UAVs, F-16s, and A-10 strike aircraft.

Stop using illegal drugs = problem solved.

Stop enforcing a useless "war on drugs" that soaks up much blood and national treasure... and regulate a legalized drug trade with herbal pharmaceuticals grown here inside US borders.

Obama admits in town hall meeting that many, many of his supporters want marijuana legalized. How does he respond? With his copyrighted oral smirk suitable to the age of the film "Reefer Madness". Keep it up there, laughing icon.
