The irony.
Hot Air headlines links to Hawkins at PJM pointing out Rush's one alleged failure - a lack of appreciation for the need for new ideas in order to win.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Chait at TNR points out perhaps the one thing he thinks Limbaugh got right.
Rush Limbaugh is drawing some ridicule for saying, "One thing we can all do is stop assuming that the way to beat [the Democrats] is with better policy ideas." But I think he's basically right. Good ideas are meritorious. But being meritorious isn't what wins elections. Most voters have only the faintest idea what policy ideas candidates advocate when running or implement when in office. External conditions (such as the economy, but war and scandal matter also) have much more influence over which party wins.
I can hardly wait for half-time when both teams get to change field direction yet once again.

"Most voters have only the faintest idea what policy ideas candidates advocate when running or implement when in office."
The irony in this, very true, statement?
Limbaugh's audience has been independently shown to be one of the smartest groups of political consumers.

I find the use of the name Limbaugh and word smart in the same sentence quite amusing. Limbaugh is not "smart" he is just very good a being a greedy bastard, and appealing to other greedy bastards. The words "conservative" and "greedy" are not synonymous. The word "conservative" when used in reference to politics, simply refers to the getting most out of as little money as possible. In simpleton terms, that means getting the most "bang" for your "buck". In my opinion, we conservatives would be much better served, by concentrating on fiscal oversight, rather than whining about how much we pay in taxes.

I've always seen it as govt=leaky bucket, taxes=water.
fix the bucket, before you start asking for more water.
