Comes from the New York Times. The best thing he can do right now is roll up his sleeves, focus on organization and let this nonsense die.
Mr. Steele declined a request for an interview. His aides dismissed the latest problems, and said they would be overtaken in the days ahead as Mr. Steele names top aides and begins talking about what he is doing to do moving forward.

The best thing he can do is resign.
He is never going to win back the trust that he has lost. Every donation request letter is just going to be thrown out in anger.
It was always going be a difficult if not impossible task to win back the trust that the Republican House of Representatives (with their runaway spending) and the Bush Administration had lost. But just having Steele's name on RNC materials rubs salt on these wounds.
I know that the RNC thinks that our hatred of Obama alone will be enough for force us back to their arms. Sorry, not me. Because say some RINO wins the Presidency next time. It only sets the stage for another Obama to rise after the RINO administration is shown to be a failure. This cycle has been going on for more than a generation now. Unless something changes that is how it is going to continue. And Steele being chair of the RNC shows that nothing has changed.
Having Steele resign will at least stop the bleeding. It would be a first step.

You might all be a bunch of Nazis but give money to me anyway.
Gosh, with a sales pitch like that how can the GOP fail?
My Grandfather fought the Nazis. Took a bullet that stayed in his body his entire life. Still despite his injuries which he suffered with the rest of his life he helped go to door passing out material for Ronald Reagan.
I miss my grandfather. I do wish he was still around. But I am glad he didn't have to see the day where HE WAS CALLED A NAZI by the very party he contributed to until his death.
Steele can go to Hell. The GOP can go to hell. How dare they call my grandfather a Nazi, how dare they call me a Nazi, for the "crime" of helping them.

Well Steele, if helping the GOP makes me a Nazi, why then would I want to do something that makes me a Nazi?
And if I am a Nazi, why would you want my blood money?
I am just waiting to get one of those Donation letters from Steele. I can think of many things to put in that BRE (Business Reply Envelope).
Dear Mr Steele, if I was to give you money, sooner or later some Republican (Yes, Republican) would call me a Nazi for participating the Republican party.
Can't have that happen so, no, you can expect me NOT to participate or give you one red cent!

"Steele can go to Hell. The GOP can go to hell. How dare they call my grandfather a Nazi, how dare they call me a Nazi, for the "crime" of helping them."
By "them" I meant the GOP not the Nazis for as I said my Grandfather KILLED NAZIS. Killed them by the bushel.
But since according to Steele Nazis and the GOP are one and the same I guess perhaps I don't need to make that clarification.
Well, don't worry Steele I will not commit the crime of helping the GOP. Certainly not while you are the chairman and quite likely not ever.
The 21st Century Republicans are the Whigs of the 21st Century. We need to find another way to oppose Obama because the Republicans have proved that they aren't a viable option.
