On the one hand I believe the nation is a bit tired right now. That probably holds true for much of the world, what with all the pessimistic news. But must tired do what tired is? That hasn't always been the case on America's and the world's behalf.
The Third Army, or "Patton's Own" is just one of many fine examples of that. The Battle of Britain another. The Dust Bowl, the Great Depression ... it wasn't the tired that got us through all that.
Today is somewhat different, though there may be hope given the Tea Party effect.
Unfortunately, that is competing with some very tired behavior on the Right as some rather nominal conservatives and even nominally conservative bloggers seem intent on spouting off a lot of hot air to fan the flames of a story better left to die an ignominious death. I think for some it's all really about nothing more serious than whatever buzz they can drum up to attract attention to themselves. Too bad.
And then there's Obama. He might just be turning into the best, or perhaps worst example of tired America has had to offer the world in a long, long time.
Fortunately America will survive it. And we'll do it in fine fashion and without much help from the rest of an all too tired bunch.

Somehow President Bush, 15 years older than President Obama, didn't let the GWOT or BDS tire him. What a wimp!

"Are you tired?"
Uh, no. I'm more energized than I've been in several years. I think I'm starting to have an effect on my blue dog Representative. He is saying to me that he won't vote for dumbo's new budget. Now that's change I can believe in!

I think I will make an ask on InTrade: Odds of Obama getting "sick" and abdicating by Dec 31 2009. We would have Biden as president but at least he has SOME experience and stamina.

looka here now, we need to leave our welfare recipient in chief alone. just furnish him a big house to live in, food to eat, transportation, and let him drink beer, party with friends and watch Bball on his flat screen. but don't expect any work out of him he may get tired.
oh yeah! better get him a blackberry to play with.

Robb,
Indeed - but the line "I'm tired of being admired" might NEVER be utter by the current President...

Remarkable! Obama's hero, Roosevelt, a crippled, sick old man, weighed down by severe economic problems and a world war, knew his job was to rally the country, show it a way ahead (not one I approve of)and kept our head above water. Poor, weary Obama (young and healthy? Perhaps not)cannot carry the weight of the office let alone lead the country. The one job he was proud of, community organizer, he left because he could achieve nothing and could not make a good enough salary to support his family, and now he thinks he can govern the USA? What were we thinking.

Judith: "What were we thinking."
Ah, what's with this "we" Kemo Sabe; I could see through his glibness. Just call me a crusty, old, construction hand who knows a fake when he sees one.

As I recall the Austrian Corporal was tired in his final days.

Those cigarettes aren't helping, plus he's got narrow shoulders and a narrow chest- not good for endurance. Have mercy you Jack Lalanne fans. No comments on the purple lips.

I read this blod and enjoy it . Yes I am tired of politicians, of lies, of my boss, of everything. But what I can do. This is the life.
Here is a useful link for tiredness.
