Update 2: Unlike the Times, the WaPo says F U you lowly taxpayers. Thou must not deny The One what he wants. What a crock of BS. Someone wants to make sure they get invited to the balls I guess. Too bad they don't have any. Did the Times and WaPo flip a coin to see which one would have to bite the bullet and try to deny the redeemer his every wish?
Update: Sadly it needs to be pointed out that we are reading this in the New York Times before hearing it from any elected Republicans. Keep that in mind as you strain to find a reason to vote for one of them next time around.
As a liberal Democrat, you've lost the war.
Unfortunately, new facts have come to light — involving his failure to pay substantial taxes that were owed and his sizable income from health-related companies while he worked in the private sector — that call into question his suitability for the job. We believe that Mr. Daschle ought to step aside and let the president choose a less-blemished successor.

The New York Times fair and balanced? Perhaps this rapidly corrupting and corroding administration is doing some good anyway. Shame on Wapo.

I found this gem -
"How much did Tom Daschle save on his homestead exemption tax dodge? A measly $288. Is there any thief more pathetic than a petty thief?"

Like somebody said, keep nominating Dems and we won't need a bailout because when they finally pay up on their taxes we'll have plenty of money.

WASHINGTON - An Obama administration official says Nancy Killefer is withdrawing her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government.
The official said the 55-year-old executive with consulting giant McKinsey & Co. will detail her reason for pulling out later Tuesday.
When her selection was announced by President Barack Obama on Jan. 7, The Associated Press disclosed that in 2005 the District of Columbia government had filed a more than $900 tax lien on her home for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help.

Lala, while I think Linda Chavez is way too smart to gloat in public, she must at least be enjoying the show the Dems are putting on regarding cheating on their own showcase program, Social Security [can you say Ponzi?].
