So Gregg leaves the Senate as I posted last night based upon a McConnell statement.
And while it may be a mixed bag due to some alleged troubling practices by former NH Governor Craig Benson, we also know this.
In the general election, Benson overwhelmingly defeated Democratic state Senator Mark Fernald, 59% to 38%. Benson successfully made Fernald's support for a statewide income tax the dominant issue in the race.
As Governor, Benson pushed for state agencies to institute across-the-board budget reductions, and famously used a giant "VETO" stamp to reject a state budget he thought was too large. Benson also championed a successful effort in the legislature to require parental notification for minors seeking an abortion; this law was later challenged in the Supreme Court in the case Ayotte v. Planned Parenthood of New England.
And Newman led the charge to unseat him by Co-chairing Republicans for Lynch, a Democrat. Why didn't they just appoint a Democrat in name as opposed to simply deed and have done with it? It isn't like we expect Republicans to stand up for anything even remotely conservative in Washington these days.
She was one of the first Republicans to publicly endorse John Lynch, a Democrat, in his successful 2004 challenge of then-Republican Governor Craig Benson, and co-chaired Republicans for Lynch.[2] She served as interim president of the University Of New Hampshire.

why do I get this feeling that if one looks, they will find that she also failed to pay her taxes?
(aside from being a democrat appointee...)

Lynch has been a successful straight shooting Gov. for NH. Isn't it possible he's just trying to do what's best for the state? Of course not, he's a democrat...
