he hasn't read a paper in six months.

It was great while it lasted. My daughter graduated from her Dublin college in 2006 and everything was booming. There were construction projects everywhere, the Irish were leaving America to go home because there were so many jobs. Now it will go back to being 50/50 like it was before. 50 percent working to support the other 50 percent on the dole.

sans financial crisis, they are/were, as allen called them, "Celtic tigers".
they remind me of the golfer/priest in caddy shack. They were shooting the game of their lives, and got struck by lightening.
