More - from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. Great, just great. Send the future down the drain for a little short-term political gain. Typical liberal BS.
“President Obama’s economic recovery package will actually hurt the economy more in the long run than if he were to do nothing, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday. CBO, the official scorekeepers for legislation, said the House and Senate bills will help in the short term but result in so much government debt that within a few years they would crowd out private investment, actually leading to a lower Gross Domestic Product over the next 10 years than if the government had done nothing.”
Update: Lindsey Graham slams Obama??? Change. Damn. Things must be hot up there.
President Obama has been "AWOL" in negotiations over the economic stimulus package, Sen. Lindsey Graham said Thursday in a scathing rebuke of the new president. The South Carolina Republican told FOX News that Obama has not been providing leadership, and he criticized the president for giving TV interviews and writing an editorial touting the package, rather than addressing the complaints of lawmakers.
Update: - and two who aren't running again, I'd wager. Reid claims to have the votes.
Link: Reid said he believes at least two Republicans of "good will" would support the Democratic-crafted package.
... phones in Congress ringing off the wall?

I remember the encouragement I felt about obama's economic recovery plan when he successfully courted Paul Volcker...
from the bloomberg link-
"Volcker, perhaps the world’s most respected economist"..."has grown increasingly frustrated over delays in setting up the economic advisory group President Barack Obama picked the former Federal Reserve chairman to lead".
the gop needs to make any support contingent upon the endorsement of Volcker. At present, it appears his role is non-existant.
The implication of the bloomberg article is that Obama is wishing to proceed with his(or nancy's) stimulus bill without any involvement or advice of the most reputable person on his economic team.

Solis Senate Session Postponed in Wake of Husband's Tax Lien Revelations
A Senate committee today abruptly canceled a session to consider President Obama's nomination of Rep. Hilda Solis to be labor secretary in the wake of a report saying that her husband yesterday paid about $6,400 to settle tax liens against his business -- liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years.
Oh the humanity!!
