This pretty much speaks for itself. He hits all the right notes. That's a start. What it will take for America, let alone conservatives to start believing it is as regards Republicans is another matter. And that may ultimately be more in Obama's hands right now, than theirs. Americans will have to sour on Obama before they start looking for "change." I think we've all heard enough about that for a while. Still, it looks like a solid address. Have to wait and see how it plays off of Reagan's Obama's remarks.
WASHINGTON –The Republican National Committee (RNC) released the following excerpts from the Republican address, entitled “Americans Can Do Anything,” that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will deliver immediately following President Barack Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress:
“As I grew up, my mom and dad taught me the values that attracted them to this country - and they instilled in me an immigrant’s wonder at the greatness of America. As a child, I remember going to the grocery store with my dad. Growing up in India, he had seen extreme poverty. And as we walked through the aisles, looking at the endless variety on the shelves, he would tell me: ‘Bobby, Americans can do anything.’ I still believe that to this day.
“Republicans are ready to work with the new President to provide those solutions. Here in my state of Louisiana, we don’t care what party you belong to if you have good ideas to make life better for our people. We need more of that attitude from both Democrats and Republicans in our nation’s capital. All of us want our economy to recover and our nation to prosper. So where we agree, Republicans must be the President’s strongest partners. And where we disagree, Republicans have a responsibility to be candid and offer better ideas for a path forward.“The strength of America is not found in our government. It is found in the compassionate hearts and enterprising spirit of our citizens.
“To solve our current problems, Washington must lead. But the way to lead is not to raise taxes and put more money and power in hands of Washington politicians. The way to lead is by empowering you - the American people. Because we believe that Americans can do anything.
“Democratic leaders say their legislation will grow the economy. What it will do is grow the government, increase our taxes down the line, and saddle future generations with debt. Who among us would ask our children for a loan, so we could spend money we do not have, on things we do not need? That is precisely what the Democrats in Congress just did. It’s irresponsible. And it’s no way to strengthen our economy, create jobs, or build a prosperous future for our children.
“In recent years, these distinctions in philosophy became less clear - because our party got away from its principles. You elected Republicans to champion limited government, fiscal discipline, and personal responsibility. Instead, Republicans went along with earmarks and big government spending in Washington. Republicans lost your trust - and rightly so.
“A few weeks ago, the President warned that our nation is facing a crisis that he said ‘we may not be able to reverse.’ Our troubles are real, to be sure. But don’t let anyone tell you that we cannot recover - or that America’s best days are behind her.”

Well said President Jindal!!
2012 isn't that far off! Time for some real "change" in Washington that isn't the corrupt Chicago kind!
The American people could see right through the "stimulus" money that was clearly directed as a "payoff" for union and liberal supporters.
This money was payolla for the Democrats,it's been estimated that half of the stimulus appropriation directly benefits government employee and service employees union that played key roles in Obama's election.
And 3 Billion for ACORN, just in time for the 2010 and 2012 elections. Just a coincidence I'm sure!
I can't imagine anyone with the nerve to watch the troll king tonight! Just hope and pray that Wall Street doesn't watch or it's time for another 2-3 hundred point drop!
Everyday that goes by shows that it's "one and out" for Dumbo!!

Jindal's message was fine. His style of giving it with more spunk, passion, expression, etc. was lacking.
I like Jindal a lot. I do not know who wrote his speech for him but whoever it was could have done a better job.
Jindal needs coaching better on how to give a speech. Not the speech itself, presentation and compassion. Anyone can go to a podium and read words. You got to put your heart into it and grab ones attention with your style.
Hopefully he will improve on this glitch in the future.

Jindal started his fancy jingles but no one was really listening to his ridiculous song of hypocrisy. I like to call it GOP selective amnesia. We had 8 years of a moron president whose dire lack of leadership was multiplied in Katrina. Jindal says we need less government--Bush's laxity in the Security and Exchange Commission empowered cheaters like Madoff and Stanford. Bush spent us into the worst deficits in history, led young soldiers to their deaths in a sinkhole called Iraq for nothing!! The GOP has outspent any political capital it might have once thought it had. LOSERS!! Jindal may be thinking he has a chance as a future presidential contender--dream on!! Americans are smarter. Jindal lives in a fat GOP bubble. THE Repubs are out of touch with America. Their only talent is fear-mongering, which even Jindal doesn't do very well.

The government need not get involved, so that way we can have slums just like the ones in his parents' native India! After a certain point, a country just cannot look after all its people. Not only are they too numerous, but as the last superpower, they are not needed to absorb casualties in a "legitimate" war. Also, being multi-cultural means never having to ask, "Am I my brother's keeper?", though one may be a Republican and Catholic convert like Mr. Jindal. Even "W" Bush talked religion, and thinks torture is ok.

Overall, a good speech by Jindal; a good synopsis of classic Republican party values, a good acknowledgement of recent GOP shortcomings and a good hopeful tone to the message.
Pachecure:
"Jindal started his fancy jingles but no one was really listening to his ridiculous song of hypocrisy"
Sounds a lot like Obama --- change we need...change we can believe in...yes we can... Broken any campaign promises lately? Sounds like politics as usual in Washington, Democrat style.
"8 years of a moron president"
Morons don't go to Yale, as far as I'm aware
"dire lack of leadership was multiplied in Katrina"
The response to Katrina was a debacle at all levels of government...local, state, and federal
"Bush spent us into the worst deficits in history"
...and Obama is making is worse with a continuation of reckless spending
"THE Repubs are out of touch with America"
53% of the votes were cast for Obama. Looks like he's out of touch with the remaining 47% of America?
Elfraed:
"Even "W" Bush talked religion, and thinks torture is ok"
Many Democrats are Catholics, but think abortion is OK (Pelosi, Kennedy, and others)

A breath of fresh air given the current scandalous stench emanating from Washington since B. Hussein bin 'Sama was elected by the left wing media.......!!
Gov. Jindal will have my vote if he runs for president in 2012.

It's time people wake up and stop letting political parties tell them how to think, it is supposed to be the other way around. Jindal's speech while better than the average republican propaganda, was still chock full of hipocrisy. You can't get up in front of an educated audience and say that the past administration made serious errors and led the country into a bad place, and then turn around say you want to fix it by doing the same things all over again, it just does'nt make sense. What i would like to hear out of the republican party, as I share many of the same idiological views, is how they are going to use what the Congress and the Senate have approved to make our country more economically sound. It is a simple fact that if unemployment rises, and people are not able to claim benefits, our crime rate will skyrocket, this is bad for ALL of us no matter race religion or political affiliation. It is the responsibilty of the government to protect our national security from the inside as well as the outside. We have shipped so many jobs overseas that we must now create new industries to replace the jobs we lost and are continuing to lose. That means that the old money CEO's that are responsible for letting these jobs go, in the name of profit, have to recreate themselves or go under. This stimulus package is designed to do just that, and keep us from sinking into increased drug use and self destruction which is what happens when jobs are lost and people have nothing to do, history shows this over and over again, why do people refuse to learn from past mistakes.

Great job Jindal. Piss on Indians and your background to get ahead in USA. The West loves stories like that - heartwarming and feel good. All is well with the world.
